Chapter 3
Very Protective! or Possessive?

I looked down and the sheets were full of blood. I felt that I was still bleeding, but that didn't stop me. I attempted to get off the bed, but it hurt. I winced and got up.

"You're going to hell!" I said as I kicked him. It wasn't hard, but it was enough to make him groan in pain.

Marcus walked over to me and hugged me.
"Marcus," He looked down at me.
"I'm all bloody. Let me shower first."
"That's okay. I don't mind. Are you okay?"
"I am now." I hugged him back.

I didn't know him, yet I felt completely safe. More safe than with the nurses.

"Let's get you cleaned up." The woman suggested.
"Fuck you lady!" I shot back.

"Can you leave us alone? Please? And get him the hell out of here!" Marcus told the lady.

"Hey Marcus?"
"Yeah," he answered.
"I know you don't really know me, but I trust you, so would you be okay helping me?"
"If you're comfortable with it."

I thought about it. I nodded.
I walked to the bathroom and Marcus walked in behind me.
"Can you take off this cast thing?"

Marcus gently turned me around and undid the velcro. I would've just ripped it off. I giggled at that.
"What?" Marcus asked.

"You're so careful. I would've ripped it off. The thought made me laugh." He laughed at my comment.
"Thanks?" He said it in the form of a question.

"Can you untie the gown?" I asked him.
He picked me up and set me in the shower on the shower bench that was in there. He untied it and pushed it forward.

"Do you want me to cover your back so I don't see you naked?" Marcus asked.

"I really appreciate how you want to make me comfortable. That's what I thought with the other guy but that didn't happen, so I guess. Yeah." I answered.

Marcus set the gown over me. He turned on the water and let it run on me.

"I'll leave you alone for a bit." Marcus said.
"All I need is like two minutes. You can come help me in two."

He agreed and walked out. I closed my eyes and let my head back. When I opened my eyes, I tried standing up. I was successful with that at least. I grabbed the wash rag that was on the rail especially for me. I set it on the bench and reached for the soap. I set that on the bench as well and tried opening the bottle.

I squirted some onto the rag and attempted to wash my legs and stomach.

I heard the door open and I felt a cool breeze.
"Do you need my help?" Marcus asked.
"Can you help me with my back? I can't reach." I said sadly.

"Yeah. Um, do you want to cover yourself or..?" He trailed off.

I stepped closer to the curtain and had him wash my back.

"Ow!" I winced.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry! I'm a terrible person!" Marcus quickly responded to my wincing.

I moved and turned around. I blocked my chest with the curtain.
"Marcus, it's okay. Your doing fine. It was only a touch."

"I know, but I can't stand it knowing I hurt you."
"Just wash my hair. We're done trying with the rest."
He hung his head low. I raised his chin. He nodded.

Marcus was currently helping me get dressed. He had went to the store and bought me some black yoga capris, along with a grey long sleeve, and a blue sweater. He bought me stuff that I actually needed, like a brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, things like that.

"Marcus, you didn't have to. Thank you so much, I promise I'll pay you back as soon as I get back to work. I'll get it back to you soon." I kept talking.

"Money isn't something I need. I have that. I make enough of it to where I could support a big family and then still have enough. Which leads me to another subject."
"And what would that be?" I asked him.

"I want you to live with me. At least until you get better and back on your feet."
I got off the hospital bed and sarcastically said, "There, I'm on my feet."

"You know what I mean." He started.

"How do you know I don't already have a home?"

"You told me. When you were asleep, I came in here. I asked where you were going after this. You mumbled the words 'evicted', 'no apartment', and 'no money'."

"Ugh, fine. But you stay out of the kitchen and leave the cleaning to me. I'm not living there for free."

When we got to Marcus's place, I was shocked. Amazed, really.

"So this is like your house?" I asked him.
"It's yours too now. You live here-"
"It's only temporarily. Don't get ahead of yourself now."

I took another look over it. I couldn't believe I'd be staying there. It was only temporary but it was beautiful.

"Marcus,"
"Yeah?" He murmured as he cruised on up of his private driveway.
"This is too much. I don't want to intrude."
"Please. I insist. It's only me. This is way too much house just for one guy."

I looked at him. Dazed and confused. Was he serious? You would think a man like him had to have at least an ex wife or a temporary, convenient significant other. Maybe it was just me though.

"No wife? Kids? Temporary lover?"
"Get the heck out of here! No!" He exclaimed with a laugh.
"Awe, but I just got here." I joked.

His face turned serious for a second.
"So does that mean I can't ever get rid of you?" He complained to no one particular.

I shook my head vigorously. When I was done my head was still spinning.

"Gah! Why is the world still spinnnning!" I giggled.

"God, your weird." Marcus mumbled.
"Your just gonna have to live with it."

I had cooked and I was now cleaning up for Marcus. I was serious about holding my end of the deal. I was not living here for free.

"Hey beautiful!" Marcus stated, making himself noticed.
"Do you usually eat breakfast in the morning? Or do you just leave for work?" I questioned him ignoring the nick name.

"Baby,"
"Don't call me that." I interrupted
"Lexi?" He asked.
"Eh, better. Continue," I urged him on.

"I'm my own boss. I own MN Enterprise. Well my brother and I both do."
"You have a brother? What's his name?"

"What is this? Twenty questions? If your so interested in my life, you just have to say so, and I'll tell you anything you want to know."

I gave him a questioning glance. "Anything?" I asked him.

He held up his hands in mock surrender.
"To an extent." He shrugged his shoulders. "Yes." He nodded.

Little did I know that this would be the moment that changed everything.
