Chapter 8
Toddlers and TrollsI was currently texting Reylor. Marcus, her, Kaden, and I had planned out our prank. It wasn't the greatest but it would suffice.
"So is uncle Marc gonna hurt uncle Nathan?" Kaden asked me.
"No baby, we're just gonna have some fun getting uncle Nathan back for picking on you." I tried."Okay, I just d-don't want uncle Nathan to get hurt too much." Kaden answered from the backseat.
Marcus got permission from his Kaden's mom, Sophie, also Marcus and Nathan's sister, for Kaden and Kiana, Kaden's sister, to spend the night with Marcus, Reylor, Nathan and I.
If your wondering what that took, Marcus told her that she needed some time to herself. She was a single mother, and when Marcus said she needed it, oh believe me, she did.
"So Marcus?" I called over from the passenger seat.
"Yeah," he said in almost a whisper."What's the story on the babies?" I asked. They weren't really babies, but compared to me they were. Kaden was six and Kiana was about four months.
"Promise you won't say anything. I'm the only one that knows." He said in a serious tone.
"Yeah, I promise. You can trust me." I said. I didn't say anything too quick."When Sophie was pregnant with Kiana around a year ago, her boyfriend had to move away with his parents. He got sent to Afghanistan and was on duty. He came back and proposed to Sophie and was here for Kiana's birth but he got sent back afterwards." Marcus made an 'uh' sound while taking a turn and watching his rear view mirror for the curb.
"About a month after Kiana was born, three and a half months ago, give or take, and he was in Afghanistan, he was shot and killed." Silence filled the car, along with Kaden's light snoring.
"Wow, that's tough." Was all I could say.
"So," I started again. "How are you the only one that knows?" I questioned."Nathan, Reylor, and I know. Everybody else thinks that she had them and then her baby daddy left her. That's not how it is." He said in a monotone type voice.
_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•_•We pulled up to Nathan and Reylor's driveway. It was a house in the suburbs.
I was carrying Kiana and Marcus was carrying Kaden. They both had fallen asleep due to the car ride. It was like we were a family. I smiled at that thought. I did want a family in the future."Penny for your thoughts?" Marcus asked.
I snapped out of my thoughts.
"I was just thinking about how I want a family in the future. You know, husband, children, that stuff."A look flashed onto Marcus' face, but as quick as it appeared was as quick as it disappeared.
"What was the penny?" I asked.
"What?" Marcus asked.
"I told you what was on my mind, now it's your turn to tell me what's on yours." I stated simply.
"I can elaborate on it later if you'd like. Company crap basically." Was all he said.We got to the door and I rang the doorbell. I was hoping Reylor would answer it but with my luck, Nathan did.
"Welcome to my humble home." He said in a deep voice. Okay Agustus.
"Dude, why you gotta be so dumb?" Marcus asked.
"Where's Reylor?" I asked. Compared to the boys, I had a very small, petite voice.
It was deep in a way, but it wasn't as deep as theirs."She's in our room, she hasn't came out since I got home from work though. I can show you where it's at. It's upstairs."
Just then, Kaden decided to wake up.
"Mommy?" He called out.
"No baby, it's Lexi and uncle Marcus and uncle Nathan." I answered.
"Can I call you mommy?" He asked.
"Sure." I answered.
"Can I go with you mommy?" He asked.
"Yeah, come on."Marcus set him down and I reached down to grab his hand. "Let's go see aunt Rey."
We were walking upstairs when I heard sobbing.
"Rey, honey is that you?" I asked.
"In here." She wailed out.We walked in and what I saw was indescribable.
"Baby, go downstairs." I said to Kaden.I put Kiana on the bed. I rushed to Reylor's side and tried to calm her down.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Well when I was getting into my car to come home from work, I heard a weird noise and didn't think anything of it. But when I got home, I heard it again. So I walked inside and went to the kitchen to start making dinner. I forgot to lock the door, so I went back and locked it." She started.
"I went back into the kitchen and I finished cooking so I set everything up and came up to the room. I didn't think that anybody was here, so I just got into the shower and that's when he started..."
She trailed off and began to sob uncontrollably."Who Reylor? Tell me who."
"He said he was looking for you. I didn't tell him anything though I promise." She started crying.
"Rey, you have to tell me who."
"I thought it was Nathan. I had all the lights off except a candle that was in the bathroom and I didn't see who it was. He never made a sound so I didn't hear his voice. Not even a grunt or moan. It felt so much like Nathan yet, it wasn't him. He pushed me up against the wall while I was turned around and we," she trailed off.
"I'm such a terrible person." She cried.I respect her. Nathan got off of work at around four o'clock. It was around eight o'clock. That means, give or take she had to have been crying for at least a good two or three hours. She must've felt really guilty.
"He got out of the shower and I finished showering. And when I got out, all the lights were still off. He came at me again and not once did I try to push him off."
She cried and cried and cried. How was Nathan gonna take this?
"Reylor who was it?" She ignored me again.
"When we were done, he got out of the bed and got dressed and when he was leaving, that's when I realized it wasn't Nathan. He opened the door and that's when the light hit his face. Before he left, he said his name and that he was looking for you. Lexi, it was him!" She shouted."It was him!" She shouted and cried.
"I saw him Lexi!" I grabbed onto her shoulders."Reylor you're not making any sense!" I tried yelling over her.
"Lexi!" She cried. "It was Ryan!"
