Chapter 10
Forgive Me

I looked up at Nathan and I held in all the tears. It hurt a lot, but I'm glad it wasn't a blow to the face. I had barely gotten his fist to hit me. But where he hit me wasn't gonna help me at all.

He hit my side. Specifically the area that had just healed from being severely bruised.

He looked at his fist and plopped down to his butt. He was sitting there looking at his hands as if they were monsters.

"I'm good." I got up, dusted myself off then pinched the bridge of my nose. That's how I got over pain. I walked over to Nathan and picked him up.

He stood up and started stumbling towards the door.
I opened the car door and I pushed him into the passengers seat.
I walked back inside and I pulled out the sheet of paper.
I wrote on it and tossed it into the floor.

Next to him was a note that said,
"It's the quiet ones you have to watch out for. Watch your back at all times baby boy... Signed by: A. Davis"

"Ow, damn it Marcus!" I raised my voice.
"Shut the fuck up damn it!" He joked.
I started laughing.
"Ow!" I said again.

Nathan was currently out of the house venting. Not about what happened to Reylor. He was over that. He understood. He came home and they talked. Literally talked. He was very understanding and was more concerned about how Rey felt then pissed off about what happened.

He was out and about but because when we got back to his house, I stayed in the car and Marcus walked out to get me. I didn't tell him about the punch, Nathan did. That man had some serious balls to go up to Marcus and tell him what happened. Marcus was mad for a little while but it blew over.

"I'm gonna kick your ass!" I scolded Marcus.
"The fuck did I do?" He retorted.
"Nothing!" I laughed.
"The fuck is up with you? Your so fucking weird." He mumbled the last part.

"Ooh know what!" I raised my voice.
"Like hell you're gonna do something!" He stepped up. The hell did I do now?

"Marcuuuus!" I yelled.
"Whaaaaat?" He yelled back.
"Shut up!" I barked out.
"Bitch!" He joked.
"Asshole!" I shot back.

He went and tackled me. He pinned me on the couch and then brought me to the floor. The whole time I was laughing and he was trying to look mad.

"Say 'Marcus is the greatest!' Say it!" He dragged 'it' so it sounded like et with the e dragged out.

"No!" I said loudly.
"Do it!" He pinned one of my arms above my head and the other he held with his knee by my hip.

"Or I swear to god I will tickle you until you pee!" He threatened.
"Nope!" I said popping the p.

"Suit yourself!" He started to tickle me.
"Why aren't you laughing?" He stopped.
"I'm immune to it." I simply stated.
"What?" He asked.
"I'm not ticklish." I shrugged my shoulders.
"Really?" He asked.
"Really." I confirmed.

"Well then I'll kiss you if you don't say it."
"Okay," I started.
Marcus raised his eyebrows.
"Won't be the first time." I stated simply.

Marcus straddled my hips and began to lean in. He set his hand on my right hip and our lips connected.

"What's going on here?" Reylor and Nathan said in unison.
Marcus freaked out and jumped off. I still had my eyes closed savoring the moment.
I smiled, then opened my eyes.

"Um, Marcus, might wanna have a visit with cold water." Reylor joked.
"What!" Marcus looked down.
"Asshole!" He shot at Reylor.
"Takes one to know one!" She shot back.
"Touché."

"Hey guys what ever happened to Kaden and Kiana?" I asked.
"Kaden's watching a movie in our guest room and Kiana is asleep in the crib that we carry just in case I ever babysit them."
"Oh." I said and nodded my head.

"When's Sophie coming for them?" Marcus asked.
"She said tomorrow morning. At around seven o'clock so that she can take them to daycare. She also said they normally wake up at about six."
"What?!" Nathan said a little too loudly.
"In the morning?!" Marcus said loudly also.

"They're early birds." Reylor stated simply.
"Yeah no shit!" Marcus and Nathan said in unison.
"Don't do that!" I exclaimed.
"Do what?" They said in unison.
"That!" I exclaimed.
"What this?" They said again.
"You guys need help." I muttered.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Marcus was currently running his hands through my hair. We were all watching ice age the meltdown. Nathan and Reylor were stretched on the long couch, while Marcus and I were on the little couch. Kiana was sprawled out on my chest. That was her spot.

Kaden was on the floor with millions of pillows and blankets; and Fruit Loops, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cocoa Pebbles, Cocoa Puffs, and Fruity Pebbles.

"Hey Kaden," I whisper shouted.
"Kaden," I tried again.
"Kaden," I sang.
"Baby boy?" I tried.
"Yeah mommy?" He mumbled.

I face palmed. Marcus snorted.
"Can I have some Fruit Loops?" I asked.
The little shit ignored me.

"Baby boy?" I tried again.
"Yeah mommy?" He emphasized mommy.
"Can I- mommy have some Fruit Loops?" He raised his eyebrows. "Please?" I finished.

"Sure mommy." He reached over and grabbed the bowl with dry Fruit Loops.

I opened the bowl and set the top on Kiana's back. I grabbed a handful of cereal and put the top back on the bowl. I handed it back to Kaden.

"Thank you baby boy."
"You're welcome momma." He smiled, showing off a missing tooth. It was between his right, front tooth and his k-9 tooth, as I call it.

Kiana started whining and then she began crying. Before she woke Nathan and Reylor, I took her upstairs into the guest bedroom.

I stood by the window in the moonlight. I was singing lullabies to her one right after the other, when I felt a pair of hands wrap around my waist.

"Who is that?" I called out.
The person began to move my hair to the side.
I turned around and came face to face with Nathan.

"Nathan?" I questioned.
"Are you okay?" I asked.

"I'm fine. I just, I don't know what I'm doing. It just hurts to know that he did that to her." Tears began to run down his face. I placed Kiana in the crib and went and sat on the bed.

I patted the spot next to me and Nathan sat down with me.
I pulled him close and held his head on my chest. That's when he broke. He began to sob uncontrollably. I rubbed his head and whispered in his ear.

"Nathan, it's okay. She'll be fine. You just have to give her time. Just give it time and things will fall into place."

"What if they don't?" He blurted.
"What?" I asked a little taken back.
"What if everything's falling out of place?" He rephrased what he meant.

I pulled him back by his shoulders to face him. "Oh buddy, but what if they aren't?"
