Chapter 15
You Have Two Legs For a Reason!"Ugh," Marcus huffed out. I was sitting on the couch and he came over and plopped across me.
"Marcus!" I wheezed out. "You're crushing me!" I laughed.
"I love you Lexi!" He stated in a firm tone. It was like he almost barked.
"Get off fatty, that's not fair! You're super heavyyy!" I complained.
"Life isn't fair damn it!" Marcus set his hand around my throat in a joking manner.
"Look at me." He demanded.
I didn't look at him. He raised my gaze."I said look at me!" He burst into fits of laughter. "I can't stay straight when I try to joke like that with you. It always works with Nathan but never with you." He pointed out.
"You're such a dork." I muttered.
"So Marcus," Reylor started. Marcus sat on my lap and looked at Reylor.
"Chess?" Marcus said. I guess that was his way of saying yes when he was... what would you call it? Hyper? What did Nathan give him?
"When are you and uh, Lexi, gonna work on giving Nathan and I nieces and nephews?" Reylor joked.
Oh, hell no.
I felt my face flush. My palms got sweaty and I went cold and numb.
"The question is when are you and Nathan gonna have kids. You guys have been together- what - five or six years. What the hell is going on with that? Stacey and I aren't getting any younger... we don't wanna die and not know our grand babies, now do we?" Richard shot back.
"Touché, Richie!" Reylor muttered. That seemed to be the 'it' word when someone got stumped.
Richard shot Marcus and I a smile.
"So, Lexi, what do you do for a living?" Richard questioned me.
"Dad-" Marcus started.
"No it's fine. I'm currently unemployed, but-" Marcus cut me off."She's gonna be a stay at home mom slash wife. I believe that the woman should hold the house down and under control and the man, or child in this case since we were talking about me," Marcus joked causing Richard and I to laugh. "Should bring in the money. She's out of work because of her injuries but she's volenteered to work. She's gotten job applications, but I don't want her to work. It was my decision."
Richard stared at me then Marcus, which caused me to squirm a little bit.
"Wow, really?" He said after a while.
"You might be disappointed with me, but I love her and I want her to be the mother to my children, which obviously, I don't want to be gone as much as you and mom were when Nathan and I were little." Marcus stated."Wow, son, I'm impressed."
Marcus got off my lap. He called everyone to the living room and not long after, Nathan, Rey, and Stacey walked in and sat on the couch.
"Is everything okay Marc?" Stacey asked.
"More than okay." He answered.
"Alexia, in the time that I've known you, I've learned a lot about you, myself, and even life. You know how to keep things tied down and under control. I love that. I couldn't have asked for a better person to walk into my life. Sure we met under shitty conditions, but hey that's alright."
"I'm gonna let that last phrase slide." Stacey said in a quiet voice. Almost a whisper.
Marcus got down on one knee. What?!
"Marcus why are you doing that? Stand up, you have two legs for a reason. Also a couch to sit on."
"Where the hell did that thing go?" Marcus said digging through his sweat pants pockets.
"Marcus," I swear any minute now and I'd be hyperventilating.
He pulled out a tiny black box. He flipped the top open. "Lexi will you freaking marry me?" He laughed.
My jaw dropped. I was at a loss for words. What?
"Lex!" Nathan snapped me back into reality.
"Um," I started.
"Please say yes. Don't leave me hanging."
I nodded. "Yeah, yes!" I said loudly. I didn't realize how loud I was until they all started laughing at me.Marcus picked me up and kissed me after placing the ring on my finger.
"Why after only like two months? Isn't that a little too early?" I asked Marcus.
"Not when your this much in love."
And with that, he leaned in for another kiss. What a day!

"That's amazing!" Stacey said.
"What? They're just shoes." I commented."No, not that silly girl! He proposed on his birthday. He managed to turn a day about him, into a day about the both of you."
I looked down at my ring. Wow, I was actually engaged now.
"Boys!" Stacey shouted.
"What!" Richard shouted back.
"Come wash up!" Stacey said.
"Okay!" They said in unison. Okay it's all of them now?! Ugh!"Now!" Stacey shouted again.
"Okay mom we're up!" Nathan held up his hands in surrender."Thank you childs!" She joked.
"So Marcus," Richard started. "When's the wedding?" Nathan finished.
"Well, my fiancé and I will work that out later." He said leaning down and kissing my forehead.
"It's the middle of June. Would late July or mid August work?" I piped in.
"I like that idea." Reylor said.
"Same here, but is that enough time?" Stacey jumped in."It's just a wedding, nothing much needs to go into it. I want something cheap and simple." I said soflty.
"No can do!" Stacey said.
"It's a wedding, you will have a beautiful wedding!" She clapped her hands and began to serve everybody.I got up and walked over. I grabbed a plate and served Marcus. I took his plate and set it in front of him.
"Dayum! She hooks it up!" Marcus laughed. I walked over and grabbed a plate for Nathan and served his as well. I took it over to him and set it in front of him. I did the same with Reylor too.
I walked back over and sat down. Everybody was watching me. "Yes?" I asked.
"Your amazing!" Nathan shrieked.
"You got all the portions down pretty good." Nathan laughed."I've only been living here and feeding you guys since like a couple months ago." I pointed out.
Richard pushed his chair out and walked up to me and stood next to my chair.
"To Lexi! Welcome to the family!" He raised his glass of wine.
"To Lexi!" They all shouted in unison.
"I love you baby!" Marcus shouted.
"I love you too Marcus." I raised my glass.
"Bottoms up!" Reylor shouted. I gladly listened and downed my drink. This was going to be an unforgettable night.
