Chapter 21

Marcus pulled me aside.
"You told her?" He said it lowly. He wasn't mad or anything, he was just asking to see if I said what he had heard.

"Yeah, I told her. She was trying to start stuff and I thought it would make her rethink about what she was about to do. The only reason I did it was because I got protective." I laughed.

"It's not funny." He said bluntly.
"It's never said it was." I retorted.
"Then why are you laughing?" He asked.

"Because my baby-" I stopped. "Our baby isn't even born yet and I'm over protective." He didn't respond.

"Marcus, what do you expect? I'm not just going to let her push me around and deal with it. I'm not going to let her hit me and let her get away with it. Try seeing things from my point of view. Please?" I begged.

Just then I had a really good idea. It wasn't a good idea, but with the right person it's never a bad one.

I went over to Reylor and whispered into her ear. She nodded and soon she got everybody's attention.

"Who wants to go and jump into the water?!" She ran towards the bridge and walked up the part designated for pedestrians. It was like an enclosed staircase and the top had a railing type of thing with a roof over it.

"How do you jump from that?" One of the guys asked.

"Follow us and we'll show you!" I shouted behind me.
"Aren't you pregnant?" He asked me.

"I don't think it'll do any harm. It's not a far drop anyways. It's fine! Come on!"

I ran and once I got to the top of the bridge, I stripped free of my cardigan and took off my spandex.

Marcus stepped in front of me. His hands slipped around my back and pulled me closer to him.

This had to have been an awkward position for Rey. She was stripping from her shorts and her shirt.

A fresh breeze passed and I got goosebumps.
"It's nice to know I have some kind of effect on you." Marcus mumbled into my neck.

Reylor jumped off the bridge. I heard her screaming and then she splashed into the water. It had to be at least a thirty to forty foot drop.

Nobody but Marcus and I were on the bridge at the moment. Marcus picked me up and wrapped my legs around his torso. He set me on the railing and supported my back. He kissed me passionately and I felt his hand running up my thighs until we heard sandal steps. I pulled away and Marcus was still dazed.

I don't think he realized that he needed a cold shower. I tried to make him more uncomfortable, then I leaned in and whispered in his ear, "Looks like somebody should really visit some cold water." And with that, I swung my legs around and jumped off the bridge.

The rush going down was un-describable. I had a wierd dropping feeling in my stomach.

I finally hit the water and was engulfed in fresh water. It wasn't freezing, but it wasn't warm. It was about room temperature.

I looked up only to see a shirtless guy. I squinted to see if I could get a better view. There were two guys. I swam over to Reylor, and waited to see who it was.

"Look Rey, I'm sorry and I really hope that you don't ever have to see that side of me ever again. I just couldn't let her-"

"I understand." She cut me off.

I looked at her. "Are you on drugs?" I started. "Because the Rey that I know doesn't forgive as easily."

She laughed and shook her head. "I said what I meant. I forgive you."

The guys jumped and splashed into the water. They swam over to us. It was Nathan and Marcus.

"Why'd you kick her ass?" Nathan asked.

I looked at him with a straight face.
"She was talking shit." I said bluntly.

"That's my girl!" He said as he held his hand up for a high five. I hit his hand and Marcus stayed still besides moving his arms and legs to keep his head above the water.

"What?" Nathan asked.
"Don't encourage her!" Marcus complained.

All of us except Marcus laughed a little bit.

We got out and dried off a little bit. We were just taking a break.

When we finally decided to start up again, Reylor left towards the bridge first. Nathan and I raced up the stairs to go off the bridge again aftwerwards.
"I'm gonna get you!" He yelled.

I heard a whimper as if somebody had covered somebody's mouth.
I stopped. I felt Nathan bump into me. Nothing could compare to what I just saw. I was heartbroken.

There he was. He had her against the railing and was whispering in her ear. I screamed.

He whipped his head around and by the time he finally did, Nathan was the first and probably the last thing he saw. Ryan got a few punches in, but they were both hurting eachother. Badly.

Marcus, in good timing, was coming up the last step when he saw what was going on. He ran up to Nathan, lulled him off, and then tossed him to the side.

"Nathan go get my phone and keys. Get the girls' stuff too."

I ran up to Reylor and crouched down at her side. She put her ear on my stomach.

"Please!" She kept saying.
"Rey, it's too early to hear anything." I told her.

"I don't care." She cried. "I want to hear him."

I held her head where it was. Beings that she was around my size, she was on my lap and she had her head by my stomach. We were a cuddling mess.

Nathan ran over to us and beings that it had been a while since we had been in the water, we were already dried.

I put on my spandex and my T-shirt. I grabbed the keys and walked over to get into Nathan's car. I buckled Reylor in and made sure she was okay even though she was old enough to handle herself.

Reylor was shaking uncontrollably. I texted Marcus.

A: Are the cops coming?
M: They're on their way. How's Rey doing?
A: Shaken up a bit.
M: Well I gotta go. I love you.
A: I love you too.

I should've kept talking to him, called him even, because what I didn't know is that, that could've been the last time I talked to him.
