Chapter 27
"You gotta admit though, I'm pretty awesome!" Nathan was still sitting in the passenger side. It was five in the morning and I was still waiting for the sun to come up.
We had been driving in the hills when we found a viewpoint - a perfect view of the whole city.
"Yeah yeah, don't flatter yourself." I said as I was pulling a gummy worm with my teeth.
"What are you doing?" Nathan asked.
"It won't rip." I stated simply with a shrug of my shoulders.I finally got it and started chewing.
"When are we heading back?" Nathan asked through a full mouth.
"You said we were going to watch the sun come up, so that's what we're doing." Nathan grabbed the bag of funny bears and finished the last three.
"I'm going to apply for a job sometime this week. I don't like how Marcus is bringing the money in while I just hold the house down." I brought up out of nowhere.
"Isn't that what the wife is supposed to do?" He asked.
"I don't know. I went to college, yet I don't know if I made the right decision to become a radiologist. I just don't know. I could be a nurse if I wanted to as well, I just need to take another year or two of classes."
We were silent as the sky became a light orange color. It was faint, but it was there.
"Wow, Marcus really has it made. You're a hardworking person and you can hold the house down. To me, with a woman like you he could be invisible."
This meant a lot coming from him. I was glad to hear this stuff from Nathan.
"So who's older and who's the baby out of you guys?" I asked Nathan.
"Well its not that easy." He said looking out into the horizon.
"And why not?" I asked softly."Because it's not only me, Sophia and Marcus." He whispered so softly, to where I wasn't sure if I had heard him right.
"What do you mean?"
"We have another brother."Now I was curious. I didn't want to pry too much, but how could I not. I had to know what he was talking about.
"His name is Jullian. He left a while back because he didn't get along with my dad."
"Is he like a step brother?"
"Yeah, he doesn't get along with my dad, but because before Richard, Stacey was with another man. She had Jullian when she was fifteen. She was with the other guy for a while and they started having problems so they split and yeah. Just to clarify, Jullian is thirty-five, Marcus is obviously twenty-five, I'm twenty-three, same as you, and Sophie is twenty going on twenty one."
"Must be tough on him." I whispered.
"Yeah, he understood what was going on so it must've been hard for him."
"So how old are your parents?" I asked trying to change the subject.
"My mom is fifty, which she looks good for, and my dad is fifty-two." He clarified.
I started the car as it was already nine in the morning. The whole car ride we spent singing again.
When we got back to the house, we walked inside quietly trying not to disturb anybody.
We started on breakfast and that's when Kaden walked in.
"Good morning mommy!" Kaden walked in, dragging his blanket. He sat on the bar chair and wrapped himself up.
"Goodmorning!" Sophie chirped as she walked in, followed by Reylor.
I walked upstairs in hopes to find Marcus awake.
"Knock, knock!" I opened the door.
Marcus was on the bed on his stomach.
I walked up to him and climbed on his back. "Baby, wake up." I whispered.
He moved a little before rolling onto his back, leaving me under him.
"Marcus your crushing the baby." I said as I tried pushing him off.
He turned over and planted kisses all over my face and neck.
"Marcus!" I giggled. "Stop it!" I laughed some more. He held my hands on either side of my head, and put his knees between my legs. From there, he moved my legs up and placed me there.
"I need you."
"And I need to ask you some thing." I replied."What?"
"Does Sophie have cameras?" I asked biting my lip.He used his finger and took my lip out from my teeth. "Don't do that; you know what it does to me," he laughed. "And no, not in here, she has them elsewhere, so we can do what ever we want." He said. He was giving me slow, love-filled kisses.
"That's not the reason why. Something happened last night and I was wondering if they were in the halls and in the living room."
"We can check it out later." He stated.
"In that case, let's go have some breakfast. It's gonna get cold." I slipped out from underneath him and fixed my hair.I was walking downstairs when I caught a glimpse of a female figure outside. I was probably just seeing things. I kept walking paying no mind to it.
I thought about it. But what if it wasn't? My subconscious was telling me. I walked back towards the front door and opened it. I walked outside and sure enough, the woman who was at Sophie's work yesterday was outside.
"You can stop hiding now. I already saw you." I called her out.
After a few minutes, she came out from behind one of the cars.
"Is Marcus here?" She asked. She was dressed in a skimpy, tight, light grey dress. "I have some business to take care of with him."
"He is, may I ask what this is regarding to?" I asked her.
"Oh, just buisness."
I went to turn around. I saw Marcus, who was already leaving, and Nathan by the door. I also saw that in the reflection of the car that was behind me, the girl tried to take a swing. I turned back around and began to defend myself. I pushed her backwards into the jeep.
I felt the adrenaline rush that I had at the beach. The girl kept swinging at me and she got a pretty good hold on me until she got tired. I used the time I had to push her off. She swung at me and got me in the face. I tried swinging back but missed a couple of times. For the most part I had gotten her pretty good.
I was wondering why nobody had taken the time to pull me off. I got off voluntarily.
"Don't ever come to this house again. If you do, there will be consequences. Because here, they never put this bitch on a leash." I warned. I walked towards the truck where Nathan was recording. He put his arm around my shoulder, and with that, we walked inside where Marcus was waiting with everybody else.
