World War Cake (Completed)

20. Let Me Expain; Luke P.O.V

It has been days since I last talked or heard from Marie. A piece of my heart broke when telling her that we couldn't be together.

The only reason why I told her we couldn't be together was that I'm horrible at dating. It has never ended well with any girl I've dated. And I didn't want to add on to my trail of broken hearts.

"Excuse me! Excuse me!" A woman says in an annoyed tone of voice.

"Huh? What?" I snap out of my thoughts. It was mid afternoon and customers were in like crazy to my bakery.

"I said, that I would like two orders of your red velvet cupcakes." A middle aged woman says.

"I'm so sorry, I will have your order in just a second." I respond quickly.
I then carefully took two cupcakes out of the display case and put them in a box.

"Here you are miss. So sorry for the delay." I apologize while handing her the cupcakes.

The woman took the cupcakes and huffed as she left the bakery.

I didn't know what was wrong today with me. I seemed so off on everything.

It was closing hour for my bakery and I began to lock up everything. After making sure everything was all locked and secure, I headed home.

Once I got home, I threw my self into my sofa and rested my eyes.

-waking up-

I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. Reaching over to the coffee table I grabbed it and answered.

"Hello?" I say in a groggy voice.

"Hello, my name is Barbara Smith and I am the executive producer at the studios of the Baked." The woman states.

"Um hi, I guess." I say confused.

"You are probably wondering why I called you." The woman says.

"Yes, in fact, why are you calling?" I ask.

The lady then explained to me about the show Baked was looking for a new host for their show. Supposedly three judges would be going on a tour around the state to selected bakeries to choose a winner.

I was estatic to hear such great news like this. I could just taste sweet victory. Me being the host of the most well known cooking show.

Then it hit me, those three judges would be going to Marie's bakery as well. Just great.
