All I see is black. A large, or small, black void. There's no beginning. No end. No up or down. All I feel is tired, so I go back to sleep.
When I wake up again I'm not in the black void but in my house on my broken floor, surrounded by broken walls. Fitting, a broken castle for a broken king. I can hear a faint sound, like a voice from outside closed doors.
I feel droplets of some liquid form up on my chest and I try moving but everything hurts. I will myself to look up and I see Laney kneeling over my chest with her head on it crying, and on the other side Izmar is kneeling down trying to keep blood from spilling out of my side. Tears fill her eyes as well, though she's more contained.
As I drift back into the void this time there's something new, a memory from the past. I see three men fighting against eachother. A man in white has a large golden hilted sword with a slivery blade etched with symbols. A man in brown with a grey staff that has a blade on each side. Lastly, there's a man in all black, shirt with one long sleeve and one sleeveless, the collar goes up to his lower lip and the shirt is tucked into a set of black pants that are baggy at the bottom from being tucked into a pair of boots, connected to said pants is a long cape that goes almost to his ankles. He holds a sword with a silver hilt and a light black blade glowing with red Demonic mixed with Angelic symbols.
I'm jolted into consciousness again and find a few doctors arguing over me. I look down to see my wound is sealed and listen to the conversation infront of me.
"I already told you once! This is a blood type I've never seen before! It doesn't even match any animal that has ever existed!" The male doctor yells.
"I don't care! Find a way to get the surgery done or we're all gone! Use another blood type if you need to but this man doesn't die." The man in a long robe says.
The doctor shakes his head and pinches the bridge of his nose. He walks over to the counter and prepares another syringe.
"I'll tell you a secret." I say making the doctor jump a bit then look back.
"Oh! You're awake!" He says excitedly.
"Yeah. Any blood type will do Doc, don't ask how just do it." I say.
He nods "At this point I'm ready to believe anything and takes any chances I can." He rushes off.
Laney rushes in with Izmar right behind her.
"Lucifer!" She says worriedly.
I jump back summoning a weak version of the sword from my dream draining most my power. Wincing I drop the sword and fall to a knee. I watch as the sword disappears then slowly stand up.
"Well, you've got me where you want me. So go ahead. Kill me." I spread out my arms waiting.
"Are you an idiot? If we wanted to kill you. You'd already be dead." Izmar says.
"Huh...?" I say slowly dropping my arms.
"We could have killed you when you were unconscious but instead we brought you to a hospital, we're not going to kill you, especially when you tried to save me instead of yourself. Whatever you actually did I'm sure it wasn't as bad as you're made out to be in the lore." Izmar says and relaxes.
"I...Thank you. Humorously enough, I don't really remember what happened after I was sent to hell." I say lying.
"I see...That explains a lot then." Laney cuts in.
The doctor walks back in "You're surgery will take place in an hour or so, y'all can have your time till then."
We nod and sit in silence for the first twenty minutes
"Lucifer. Who was that back there?" Laney asks.
"Oh right. I forgot only archangels see other archangels heh, funny way of keeping in contact with the higher ups. Well, that was Azrael. The Archangel of Death." I say blatantly.
"...You fought the Angel of Death...? And lived...?"Laney says dumbfounded.
"Remember, I was once equal in strength to Michael. But my fall took a lot out of me. My power is slowly coming back but it's not enough to beat Azrael, not even close. He let me live." I say disappointed.
"So what you're basically saying is that if he comes back anytime soon we're fucked." Izmar states bluntly.
"To put it lightly. Yeah." I reply.
