I park my car in the driveway of the Tailor's house, getting out and grabbing the ingredients. Nathan and I walk inside, taking the stairs down to the basement.
"Gregory, we got the stuff for my sheath." I say from behind him, setting the leather bag on the table.
"Good, I'll make the sheath but after that, I want nothing to do with you, or that sword ever again." He says then sends us off so he can work.
"Okay, spill it, what's the sword, where'd you get it, and who is this guy?" Nathan says sitting at the table.
"Gregory is a Tailor of God, he made the containment area's for the angelic weapons. The sheath is for my family sword, The Michael Sword. Lastly, I got it from heaven, Raphael took my grace but before I fell, I took the sword and shoved it through his chest." I say leaning against the wall.
"So this guy is making a sheath for the sword?" He asks.
"Yeah, here." I toss him the draconic sword and walk to the basement to check on Gregory.
"You almost done?" I ask, peeking over his shoulder.
"I am done, was about to bring it up." He says and sheaths the sword handing it to me.
"Thanks. We'll see you around." I say walking out.
"I sure hope not." He mutters walking back to his basement table.
Nathan and I head back to the safe house, half a country over. Stopping after two days of driving, in Montana.
"Want something to drink?" Nathan asks walking towards the gas station.
"Just a Pepsi." I reply, getting a teasing, vomiting motion from Nathan.
I walk to the pump and press the "Regular" button, pumping gasoline into my car. As I wait for it to fill up I start coughing and spit out blood onto the asphalt. "The hell...?" I say feeling blood on my lip.
"What the hell what?" Nathan asks walking up.
I wipe my lips and look up "Nothing, just saw some weird looking bug." I lie pulling out the pump and getting in the car. Nathan gets in and pats his lap. "Ready to go?" I ask. He nods and I drive off, out of the gas station."Did you get it?" I say looking back at the bag.
He nods "Apple."
I pump my fist in the air, excited to get home.
Nathan and I walk in the door to find Laney holding her head on the arm chair, and Izmar in her bedroom reading. I look at Nathan and shrug.
"Will you throw away the trash, I'm gonna shower then see if I can sleep." I ask of him. He nods and picks the bag up walking outside.
I walk to Izmar's bedroom and turn on the shower letting the water heat up.
"What're you reading?" I ask blankly. She shows me the book cover and continues.
"Jeez. Sorry for whatever I did." I say then walk into the bathroom, getting undressed and in the shower. When I get out I dry off and wrap a towel around my waist.
"You should've brought me with you." She says not looking away from her book.
"Look, someone needed to look after Laney, Nathan and I haven't done much alone in a while so why not just he and I?" I say leaning against the wall.
"Why? Maybe because you two could've gotten hurt." She says irritated.
"We could've if we brought everyone. And I needed someone I could rely on to get the job done." I say looking her in the eyes. "Maybe you forgot but I'm no Angel, not anymore. Now I'm just a black eye'd demon, and if I lose it Nathan will kill me flat, you wouldn't." I say walking towards the bed.
"I could...If I needed too..." She says looking away.
"You don't have the stomach to kill me." I say roughly, looking her directly in the eyes.
"Maybe I don't care if you're a demon or not. Just because you are one doesn't mean you have to die! It doesn't mean you're going to just go darkside!" She yells.
"That's exactly what it means. Name one demon in the history of ever, that was there for anyone but themselves?" I say throwing my arms up.
"No...But that doesn't mean you're not different!" She says desperately.
"I'm not taking a chance of being 'different' with the safety of the people I love, especially not with you." I say and sit on the bed.
"The longer I'm a demon, the more I'll lose my humanity, or Angelicity...? I don't know. The more of a threat I'll be. So I'm going after Michael to get my grace." I say laying back.
"Then we'll help you, we have to be useful for at least that, plus, we're all in this together." She says and moves a hand to my jaw, kissing me. I pull her onto my lap and kiss her back, pulling on her lower lip. This night could turn out better than I thought.
When I wake up it's still dark out, but it's 5 a.m. I walk out to the kitchen and brew some coffee. I rub my left forearm, regretting losing my mark to Cain.
"There's only one way to win now..." I say then see a girl walking out of Nathan's room dressed in his shirt.
I chuckle and walk to the garage.
"Azazyel, I need you to do something for me." I say and turn hearing the flap of wings.
"What is it you need Moi Tsar?" He says bowing.
"Find Cain, then bring me to him." I say waiting.
"Sire, I found him but...This is Cain...Are you sure you want to see him?" He says cautiously.
"Take me there now." I say, my eyes darkening. He nods and grabs my shoulder.
We appear in front of a house in the middle of a meadow. "Is this it?" I ask somewhat surprised.
Azazyel nods and disappears. I chuckle "Azazyel, scared, what is this life coming to." I say then walk inside finding Cain siting at a table drinking tea.
"Are you drinking tea?" I ask dumbfounded.
"Ah, Lucifer. It's a pleasure. This is tea with honey, would you like a glass?" He says standing up and grabbing me a cup.
"I have a request." I say respectfully.
"We shall speak of it over tea then." He says pouring some into the glass. "Honey?"
"Yes, please." I say sitting.
I take a sip and he lays out his hand "Speak." He says leaning back against the chair. I tell him of everything that's happened since the battle with Raphael.
"I see, So you're missing your Angelic grace. So I'm guessing you've come to me asking for help?" He says.
"No, I realize you're done with the blade and the mark. I've come to take it back." I say.
"I need your mark Cain." I say sipping the tea.
