It had become routine for Narima to wake up smelling like Raion, rush to the shower and stand for what seemed like hours with the hot water cascading down her body. Every day she would wake up, shower, have three meals with Raion and finally dread the setting sun. Every night Raion would make love to her, as he called it. Narima would always fight back before her senses shut down. She did not want to feel anything while Raion attacked her.
As she got out of the shower, she twisted the silver cuffs around slightly, wincing in pain. She saw the already purple bruises become another shade darker. She growled at the sight of them and wrapped her wrists being careful to go under the cuffs.
Just then Gio busted into the room. He looked around and saw Narima naked and drenched in water. His face turned bright red as he turned around embarrassed, not wanting to see.
"Could you... Um... Cover up, please?"
Narima sighed, grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her body. She then tapped Gio on the shoulder to tell him she was done.
"Alright, that's better." Gio smiled. "So! I'm taking you on a tour of the castle!" Gio said excitedly.
Narima shook her head no.
"What? Why?" Gio's smile slowly disappeared. "Don't you want to get out of this room?"
Narima looked at Gio with vacant eyes. She went to grab a sheet of paper that she had stolen from Raion and grabbed the pen Gio had given her.
What's the point of me leaving this room, if I am to die here? Besides I don't think Raion would like that you took me out. He seems to hate the idea of his best friend being around his 'wife'. Besides, Raion has made it 'law' that I'm not allowed anywhere outside of this room without his presence.
"See that's the thing, it was Raion's idea to have you get out of the room..." Gio said slowly. "He wants to show you off to the pride leaders that are coming today..."
Then I really don't want to go. I'm not some trophy he can show all his friends.
"Narima I'm sorry I can't help you beat him." Gio picked up her left hand, a sad look appearing on his face when he saw the bandages. "I didn't know he was planning this... I would have stopped him if I had known..."
But no one knew... And why did it have to be me? Why couldn't it have been an actual lioness that he fell in love with and that could possibly love him back. Why me? I'm not even of the same species! I don't care about him. Besides, I can't possibly give this pride the heir that it wants...
"Raion doesn't care about leaving an heir to the throne..." Gio whispered, noticing Narima's aggressive hand writing.
Then why the hell did he do this to me?! Why did he make me queen of he doesn't care about the pride duties? I have my own royal needs back home but now I can't show my face there with this!
Narima pointed to her whole arm. The markings had become bolder and would make Narima itch. She would claw at her skin making herself bleed but the ugly black lines would not go away.
"I don't know how to answer that..." Gio looked down, ashamed of how helpless he felt.
"Narima?" Raion's voice caused her to flinch.
Gio snatched the paper out of her hands and stuffed it into his pocket before turning to face Raion.
"Gio, what are you doing with my mate?" Raion growled surprised to find him alone with her.
"Nothing, Pride Master." Gio stood at attention. "I was simply asking the Pride Mistress if she would accompany me on a tour of the castle as you had asked."
