Gio laid down on the cold hard ground, keeping Narima within his line of sight. She was doing better now that they knew what was wrong. Narima had a very strict diet per Reyna's orders. He looked around their small clearing that had become a makeshift den. Gio shivered slightly wishing for his warm bed and soft pillows. But he knew there was no going back to the Golden Pride.
A storm rumbled far off in the horizon as he lay still listening to Narima breath steadily. Her back rose and fell as he watched her stomach. Reyna had concluded that she was now four months pregnant. Narima had to be watched at all hours of the day or else she would try to hurt herself in order to hurt the baby. Gio could still not understand how it was possible for a lion to get a wolf pregnant, but Reyna was convinced it was because they had mated only as mortals and never in their animal forms. But then Gio began to think, what was the child's form going to look like? It will be part wolf and lion and then of course part dragon and vampire.
Dragon... Narima is part dragon... Gio rolled onto his stomach so that he could look at Narima more closely. He could see her outlined body as she blended into the night. She was small compared to him but large none the less. He had never seen another wolf so he could not really compare her to them. But he imagined they were the same as her only different in color and size.
Narima's ears suddenly shot up. Gio jumped up immediately as Narima ran to the side of their camp and vomited. Gio relaxed a bit as it was only her morning sickness acting up again. As she crawled back to her sleeping spot, she curled into a ball groaning against the pain of an empty stomach. Gio sighed and walked over to Narima's still body. With her powers muted, she could not warm her body on these cold nights.
"You know that's why Reyna asked us to sleep near the dens, instead of out here." Gio plopped down next to her and she automatically moved closer to him, enjoying the heat radiating off him. "We could go join the jaguars..."
Narima growled and shook her head. Gio sighed and kept his mouth shut. Ixel had mentioned they had arrived in the center of the Soam territory, jaguar lands. Narima's pack was just north of them, after a long trek through more jungle, desert, mountains, and other terrain he was not used to. At least Gio knew they were on the correct side of the world.
Gio began planning their trip once Narima felt better. But Reyna was against Narima traveling at all. Reyna would say that too much walking could hurt the baby. Gio was beginning to think that the jaguars had to many rules.
Ixel walked slowly towards Gio as she noticed Narima curled deep into his side. She bit her tongue on saying a rude comment but growled in annoyance at the sight of them. Gio looked up at her and smiled. He gently purred as Narima pressed herself deeper into his side, enjoying the vibrations of his body.
"Sharing body heat is my specialty." Gio gave her a large smile. "Narima seems to like it."
Ixel simply rolled her eyes and laid down a few feet away from the pair.
"Reyna heard her puke." Ixel hissed out. "She wants to know if she's ok."
"Yes, she's fine. No food in her stomach but okay." Gio looked down at the black wolf. "Still very picky on what actually stays down and not ends up half digested."
"Well we don't have much of an abundance of meat." Ixel growled. "Sorry we don't meet your expectations."
"No, its nothing like that." Gio apologized. "I understand the hunting and the like but... Im not sure its what Narima needs."
"No one really knows." Ixel sighed, her annoyance gone. "This is truly the first time it has ever happened."
"Well, what else am I supposed to learn about taking care of a dragon hybrid?" Gio smiled, enjoying the conversation.
