Camilla's P. O. V.

"You're making my sides hurt!"

Charles is making me laugh so hard that I'm getting a cramp.

He quickly grabs my waist, steadying me, "Careful. Alright, I'll stop. "

Charles and I are out in the gardens, walking around. It's late. So the moon and stars are absolutely gorgeous.

Charles and I continue walking, as he takes my hand in his. I look at him. He laughs, "What?"

I shake my head and smile, "Nothing."

You may be wondering why I haven't made my announcement that I am marrying Julian. But I just find it very hard to let Charles go.

"You and Julian seemed extra close this morning. "

I nod as we sit on a bench, "I'm not going to lie. I slept with him last night. And I told him I would marry him. But then I see you, and-"

Charles lightly presses his lips against mine for a few seconds then pulls away. I laugh, "What was that for?"

Charles grins, "I just want to make sure you know what you're going to miss, if you marry Julian. "

I laugh again, running my hand through my hair, "I wish it were an easy decision, Charles. I do. "

He nods, "I don't want to leave you yet."

I nod, "I don't want you to either. "

I groan and lay my head on his shoulder, "Sometimes I just want to run away. "

"We could. I could take you to Scotland. No one would have to know. Maybe getting a little distance from Julian would help you make your mind up. "

I smile at him, "I wish it were that easy. But right now, there is no king of France. I am acting as King. I can't leave. "

Charles nods, "I understand. It's late, you should go to bed. "

I nod and stand up, hugging him, "I'll see you tomorrow. "

Then I walk inside the castle, going to my room. Julian is laying in bed with the lights on. I laugh when I see John laying asleep in the middle of the bed.

Julian grins at him, "He fell asleep when I was reading to him. I couldn't wake him up. He looks to precious. "

I nod and climb into bed on the other side, "No, just leave him. "

I turn the light out and lay down. Julian whispers, "Where were you?"

"Walking through the gardens."

"With Charles?"

I hesitate before deciding to answer honestly, "Yes. "

Julian is quiet for a minute before saying, "I want you to know, that if you don't announce our engagement within the next week, I'll leave. "

I roll over, looking at him, "Stop it. I haven't been with anyone but you and Louis in the longest time. I've forgotten what it was like to be in the young honeymoon stages of a relationship. I'm enjoying his attention and his affection. I don't feel like we're like that anymore. "

Julian strokes my cheek, "Sweetheart, I love you more and more every day. I will do whatever you want me to do. We can go back to that stage. "

I shake my head, "We can't. Because you'll become King soon. Then France will come first. Come before me. "

Julian shakes his head, "Absolutely not. Darling, I'm different from Louis. I wasn't raised to be a king. You will always come first in my life. Before politics every time. The same can't be said for Charles. He was born to rule"

I nod, "I know. Okay, I'm tired. I love you, okay?"

He leans over John and gives me a deep kiss, "I love you. Please know that I love you so much my heart hurts. Please know that. "

I smile as I close my eyes, John snuggling up beside me, "I know that."

Then I fall asleep with my beautiful son in my arms.
