M A T T

A few days had gone by since Christmas. In fact, it was New Year's Eve today. Yep. I had told Nora a couple of days ago that my friend Nathan was throwing a party to celebrate the New Year and I had asked her to come along with us, but she had said that she couldn't come because she had other plans.

That was alright. I mean, I spent that night thinking about if she had met someone else or who was she going out with, but I was fine. Yep.

So, while I was getting ready to leave my house right now, my mind went back to Nora and what she would be doing now. Truth is we hadn't spoken much since Christmas day, and I was afraid that I had ruined our blooming friendship.

That was the second time that I had been dying to kiss her and I almost did. If we hadn't been interrupted both times, would she have kissed me back? She seemed willing to.

Well. That was my perception of things. Maybe she was actually repulsed by me and I had seen what I wanted to see.

Maybe I was right and all I had to do was try again.

Third time's a charm and all that shit.

N O R A

A party.

Me.

At a party.

I still couldn't begin to comprehend how I had let Aubrey convince me to go with her and her boyfriend to some kid's New Year's party. Really, it was actually lame. I thought that only happened in movies. The whole kiss someone at midnight and all those things.

And this little dress that Aubrey had forced me to wear was ridiculous. I'll admit it's kinda cute, with the color and the collar, but it's just too short. I tried to explain this to her so that she understood how uncomfortable I felt in this outfit but she didn't give a damn what I told her. She was only worried about me misstreating her dress, ordering to take care of it as if it was my child. I sooffed at that.

Her boyfriend was his usual... peculiar self. Peculiar because he was an interesting guy for sure.

Interesting to stare at.

Not just because he was handsome -which he was with his blond hair and piercing blue eyes- but because he had all shorts of things attached to his body. And by that I mean he was tatted up to his neck and had tons of piercings, not only on his face but on the rest of his body, even in some intimate parts...

Not that I had seen them, of course. Aubrey's just so proud of his masterpiece of a body that she loved telling me every new hole that he got pierced in his body.

Sometimes it was a little gross, though.

Anyway back to the present, I was just putting my shoes on when Aubrey yelled at me from my living room downstairs saying they were ready to go and to hurry up or we'd be late. They could go without me, I sure didn't mind. Besides, I didn't even know whose house it was that we were going to so I didn't care if we were late or not. It was probably one of Aubrey's boyfriend's weird friends' party and I wouldn't know anyone.
