There. I said it.
"Because I like you, Nora."
And there she was, standing right in front of me, beautiful as ever, with that poker face of hers so hard to read.
Oh my God. If I was worried about freaking her out on Christmas day, now I should be panicking. She wasn't moving. She wasn't even blinking. She just stood there, staring at me with gorgeous wide eyes.
"You-you like me?" she whispered, I almost couldn't hear her, she was so quiet. "Me?" she repeated. "No." she shook her head. "No, no, no, no."
What happened to her? She looked like she didn't believe me... or maybe she didn't want me to like her?
She didn't like me back.
That had to be it.
"What do you mean you like me? You like me as in you're my friend and you like me? Or as in like like me?"
"How many meanings can you give the word 'like'?" I asked her, getting frustrated by the second. "I like you, Nora. I think you're gorgeous and beautiful, and I don't mean only physically, but as a person. I think you're sweet, and a little bit feisty, and generous; too generous. You're shy and a bit antisocial, but also adventurous and sometimes spontaneous. You're everything, Nora. And I like it. I like you. So much."
I was panting now after my not so great speech -if you could even call it that. I only wanted for her to believe me, to believe in her, and that she could be all of that and more. I've liked her since the minute I met her, and how she refused to acknowledge my existence and to even tell me her name.
I like her, damn it. And I want her to like me back, like I've never wanted anything else before.

This was not believable. It was impossible. Unreal. Surreal. It wasn't happening. Matt had not just said those words. No. Nope, not at all. He couldn't have.
"What?" I was awestruck, and a little horrified. Don't get me wrong, those were beautiful words, but was he sure they were for me?
I was 100% sure that my eyes resembled saucers right now.
Matt sighed once again. I could see that I was making him angrier by the minute and I couldn't blame him. "Nora, I like you. L-I-K-E you. Do I need to scream it out? Shout it from the rooftops? Write it on the skyline? I LIKE YOU NORA!!!!!!!" he screamed at the top of his lungs, throwing his arms in the air. The few people that remained in the front yard looked at us astonished, then registered what he had just screamed and started cheering.
What the hell.
Yet again he had managed to sneak in another song lyric. I had to smile at that, the cheesy bastard.
I opened my mouth to try and say something, the look in his face was quite heartbreaking.
However, right in that moment came Aubrey and Levi to ruin the moment. Well, more like to save me from this awkward moment.
"Nora! I've been looking for you everywhere hon-" Aubrey waved at me. Then she actually noticed Matt standing there, heavily breathing, and gave me a curious look. I shook my head and looked at Matt through my eyelashes, shyly. I was more confused than ever. "Oh, hey Matt! You were at the party too? I didn't see ya! Happy new year!" she approached him and gave him a light hug. It looked like she was much better now, all sober.
