N O R A
"hEY THERE!" Aubrey yelled at me through the phone. I swear voice sometime resembled nails scratching on a chalkboard.
"Oh my God! I swear, Aubrey, one day you're going to make my eardrums explode."
"Oh you are so exaggerated." I could feel her rolling her eyes at me through the phone. "Anyway, there's this end-of-the-year bonfire down at the beach Saturday night and we all should totally go!"
I sighed. "Another party? Seriously?"
"Oh come on, Nora. It's to celebrate the end of the school year! Aren't you happy that exams and projects and whatnot are over for at least three months? I mean, we passed! You passed with flying colors! We need to celebrate that!"
"By getting shitfaced?"
"Well, why not? Come on, Matt already agreed and said you'd go. There's no way you're missing it."
"You talked to Matt before you told me this?"
"Chill, I needed back up just in case you said 'no'. Like I knew you would."
I scrunched up my nose. "Am I that predictable?"
"You don't want me to answer that. Just say you'll come."
It was my turn to roll my eyes now. "Fine, fine. I give up. I'll go."
"Yes! I knew it! Well, meet you Saturday night! Wear something pretty!"
"Bye." I said back, even though she had already hung up.
Once I put my phone back into my pocket, I kept scanning through every shirt that was within my reach. You see, I was currently at the mall desperately looking for something for my brother because it was his birthday in a week and I still didn't have a present for him.
I scanned through every typical father's day gift and decided that those obviously weren't appropriate for the occasion. I left the section and went to the guy's section to search for something more stylish and up-to-date.
I looked and looked through every shirt and pair of jeans and every jacket and still didn't what to get him. I was going through the jackets sections and I suddenly I saw the perfect thing. It was a black bomber jacket that fit him perfectly along with some black jeans and a white t-shirt.
Done.
I left the store with my gifts all wrapped in pretty birthday paper and headed up to the food court to get something to eat. I decided frozen yogurt was my best choice since I was kinda hungry but didn't fancy anything heavy. I ordered my frozen yogurt and left the parlor to text Matt. He'd said to text him when I was done because he needed to buy something and also wanted to pick me up.
