"So how's pretty boy?" My friend Wesley asked me when I saw him that following Sunday.
I shot my head towards him with a glare. "I hate that you found out."
"That's what you get for leaving your phone unlocked with those messages pulled up," he replied with an evil smirk.
"Well now that you know you're not allowed to tell anyone or else I'll rip your nuts off and feed them to you!" I exclaimed.
"Holy shish kabobs! Relax, I'm only kidding," he put his hands up in surrender, his smirk still planted on his face.
The door bell rang and I shot up to get it. I surprised to see Isaac standing there smiling. A grin appeared on my face and he hugged me, giving me a quick kiss while he was at it.
"Good grief get a room!" Wesley exclaimed from the couch he was sitting on.
I rolled my eyes and Isaac looked at me with a confused face.
"Isaac this is my friend Wes," I explained and leaned closer to him and muttered, "he knows. I accidentally left my phone out and he read our messages. I tried to cover it up, but it was no use. Plus Ash confirmed his suspicions. I'm sorry."
"It's okay. Really. He doesn't go to our school, we're fine," he gave me an assuring smile.
"So lovebirds wanna hit the mall?" Wes piped up.
"What mall? Minocqua doesn't have one," I said raising my eyebrows.
"Yeah, but Wausau does," he eyes full of mischief.
"Wausau is an hour away you ding bat."
"Yeah? So? We all have licenses, and I'm assuming this kid here has a car."
Isaac nodded his head, but was still skeptic.
"Your point Wesley? We still can't go with our parents knowing."
"Go on and ask your dad then. Admit it you want to get out and do something."
He was right. I was getting bored of sitting around the house. Going for a drive with my boyfriend and best guy friend did sound like fun. I sighed and pulled my phone out my pocket. Isaac shrugged and took his out also.
A few minutes later we hung up our phones and nodded.
"We can go," I said. "But I have to get home by eight at the latest."
"Well I live in Wausau, so I'm good with that," Wes shrugged.
"Yeah that's my curfew too," Isaac said. He took his keys out of his pocket, and handed them to me. I raised an eyebrow at him. "I don't know the way."
I grinned and grabbed my camouflage coat from the coat hanger (which had my wallet in the pocket) that matched my camouflage skinny jeans, black shirt, and slipped on my brown combat boots that went with. I ran out to Isaac's big military style Hummer, and hopped in the driver's seat. I quickly started the car and hooked up my phone to the AUX jack, and played my music.
A few seconds later Isaac climbed into the passenger seat and Wesley in the back.
"Geez someone was excited," Isaac said laughing.
"What?" I said laughing also. "I like your car. It's almost as great as the truck I'm gonna get when my grandparents take me car shopping like they promised me for my graduation present."
He rolled his eyes and noticed that the car was blasting "Good Girls" by 5SOS. He gave me the look that said really? I simply shrugged and pulled out of the driveway.
And so began the car ride.
Twenty minutes later Wes had warmed up to Isaac and I was happy that they were getting along. The car blasting "Summertime Sadness" by Lana Del Ray, Isaac doesn't really like that song.
"Can you please change it?" Isaac begged.
"Alright fine!" I hit the button as the beginning chords of "Stitches" by Shawn Mendes began to play.
"No! No no no! No!" Isaac exclaimed. He went to push the skip button, but I shoved his hand away and pouted.
"Please don't skip it! You know how much I love this song!" I gave him my best puppy dog eyes.
He sighed in defeat, "fine!"
I smiled in triumph, it works every time. I began to sing along. Isaac stared at me mesmerized.
Wesley yelled, "whipped!" from the back. He and I began laughing.
Isaac cracked a smile and rolled his eyes, shaking his head.Seventy minutes later we were in my favorite store of all time, Hot Topic.
Wesley was joking about with me and was dragging from thing to thing, while Isaac kind of stood back with his arms crossed. When Wes was distracted by something, Isaac pulled me aside.
"He needs to back off," he said bluntly.
"Wes? Why? What's he doing?" I asked confused.
"He's being a little too friendly with you for my liking," I glanced down.
Then it clicked. I smirked. "You're jealous."
"Am not!" He exclaimed in a sort of hushed tone.
I giggled. "Yes you are! You're jealous of Wes!"
"So what if I am?" He recrossed his arms looking down kind of embarrassed.
I giggled a little bit more, and tilted my head up slightly and kissed him. He kissed back and I pulled away after a little bit. He looked down at his feet. I tilted his head up, so that I could look into his eyes. "Hey look at me. I gave you the key to my heart. I told you that I love you. You have nothing to worry about. I meant those things. I promise," I hugged him again. "Besides Wes has a boyfriend."
Isaac pulled back slightly and looked me in the with an eyebrow raised. "You mean girlfriend."
"No I mean boyfriend. Wes is bi, and right now he has a boyfriend. His name is Lucas," I said laughing.
Isaac looked at me then at Wes then back me his face plastered with confusion and shock. I nodded my head.
He then shrugged and we joined Wes in checking out the Pokémon collection."I can't believe that Wes has a boyfriend!" Isaac was laughing his head off on our way home that evening. We'd dropped Wes off and well Lucas was there waiting for him.
"I told you!" I exclaimed, laughing also.
"He just doesn't seem like the type. It's so weird," Isaac said shaking his head.
"I know. You weren't there in the beginning. I've know those two ever since I was five and they got together five months ago. It was such a weird change, but oh well. Neither of them act or look like the type, but they do look cute together... once you get used to it at least," I explained.
"I'll take your word for it," Isaac was still a little shocked. He reached over and grabbed my hand. I glanced at him and smiled. "Tomorrow is going to be so hard. We took a major step in our relationship and we have to act like we barely even know each other." He pouted.
"I know. It's sad," I pouted also.
"Remember when we first met?" He asked.
I laughed a little. "How could I forget? You shoved me in a lake!"
He laughed also. "I didn't mean to I swear! If I remember correctly I helped you out."
"Yeah, but you still pushed me."
"How many times must I tell you? My friends were messing around and pushed me and I accidentally stumbled into you," he explained. "They only did it because they knew I liked you."
"Wait you liked me then?" I asked looking at him for a second.
"Well yeah. I saw you around on the first two days of camp, and I noticed how you didn't have anyone to hang out with, how you kept to yourself. I thought you were stunning. I could tell some of your interests when I saw what different activities you went to. I especially was fascinated with the multitude of instrument cases you walked with when you went to the jam session activities. I fell in love with your voice when you sat behind your cabin, strumming your guitar, and singing along. I noticed how you sat in the grass field just writing away, and well I was fascinated with you. I wanted to get to know you and learn everything about you. I told my friends this and well they became curious about you too, and well then they did that stunt, and yeah," he rambled on and on, but I didn't mind.
I smiled. "I noticed you. You stood out from everyone else, but I was just curious. I liked you the moment you said 'hey wanna hang out with my friends and I'."
"I'm glad you said yes."
"Me too."
