My dad, brother, and I don't have much money we have what we need to get by, and we all pitch in. My grandparents on the other hand have a ton of money. They buy us things we can't pay for. For instance they bought me my flute, laptop, and other things, plus I get a car of my choice when I graduate, so does Asher. Ash and I are their baby grandchildren, so as they put it they like to spoil us.
So opening up my present from my dad was total and complete surprise.
"Holy Mother Nature! You did not! This is amazing! I love it! How did you even?" I stared at my dad in amazement.
"A magician never reveals his secrets so neither will I," my dad simply said.
"It's great! Thank you so much dad!" I basically attacked him with a hug.
"It's great! Thank you so much dad!" I basically attacked him with a hug.
It was a new acoustic guitar. My old one had broken, and I desperately needed a new one. This one was absolutely astonishing. It was cherrywood with a vine, floral pattern starting at the top of the neck, and climbed down spreading around the wood. It was one of the best presents ever.
"I'm glad you like it. Now here you are Ash," Dad said handing Ash a medium sized box.
Ash wasted no time in tearing the wrapping paper off. Once he looked at the box his mouth dropped and he froze.
"Wha...? H...? Dad how?" Was all he could get out.
"Like I told your sister, a magician never tells his secrets."
"It's a freaking Xbox! This one just came out a few months ago! They're bloody expensive! Thank you so much!" Ash hugged him.
"You're welcome, and thank you two for the lovely gifts as well. Now Linda and Ariel are coming over in an hour so there is breakfast to be made," he said getting up.
"He had to have borrowed money from grandma and grandpa," Ash muttered.
"Let's just leave it a mystery," I whispered.
He nodded his head and went back to staring at his new system.
I held the guitar, it was perfect. I was about to start strumming something to test it out when I heard a ringing come from my room. I got up and ran to my room.
I got in and looked at my laptop, which I had left on awaiting Isaac's call. Speak of the devil, it was his call. I quickly put my hair in a ponytail and clicked the answer button. I was greeted by a shirtless Isaac sitting on a lounge chair.
"Greetings from the land of hot and humid!" Isaac exclaimed.
"Greetings from the land of snow and ice, wanna trade?" I replied.
"Not going to lie I'm kind of upset I'm celebrating Christmas where there is no snow, but it is nice to not be freezing my butt off. Merry Christmas by the way," he said smiling.
"Merry Christmas," I said laughing slightly.
"Do me a favor and stand up and spin in a circle."
            "Why?" I asked skeptically.
"I need a better look at what you're wearing," he replied simply.
I stood up and twirled in a circle and sat back down again. "Happy?"
His eyes were slightly wide. "Babe I wish I could be there in person because you look adorable. Is that a Yoda onesie?"
I nodded my head yes and put up the hood that completed the outfit.
"I love that you're a total geek just like me."
I was blushing really hard right now and couldn't stop smiling.
           "Where'd you get that anyways?"
"It was my present from Ash."
"Well isn't he a good brother."
           "Yeah, sometimes," I shrugged.
"Wow!" He laughed. "What else did you get?"
I jumped up excitedly and began to run out of the room while shouting, "be right back!", and charged downstairs, grabbed the guitar and ran back up.
I plopped down and exclaimed, "Ta-da!"
"Holy cow! That's so cool!" He exclaimed moving his face closer to the screen. "It's astonishing, and definitely one of a kind. Fits you perfectly."
I rolled my eyes while smiling, and muttered, "cheeseball."
"Take a compliment would ya!" He exclaimed laughing, holding his head in his hands.
"Anyways, what'd you get?" I asked.
"It's a surprise," he said leaning back in his lounge chair.
"What? No! I told you, and now you tell me!" I exclaimed.
"No! You'll find out the first day of second semester," he said grinning a smug grin.
"That's not fair! That's in three weeks!"
"I know, but you'll love it, so therefore it'll be worth the wait
          "You so sure about that?"
          "Yup!"
"You sure are a cocky son of a bitch."
He gasped in fake exasperation, "I am offended that you would think so lowly of me!"
I just laughed at his weirdness.
"Oh so you think this is a joke? There are feelings being hurt, and you're sitting here laughing!"
I gave him the 'seriously' look, and we both laughed.
"Okay okay. Can you just be patient? I know you'll love it," he said.
         "Alright," I sighed.
"So! Shall we open our presents now?" He asked looking mischievous.
"Oh yeah! Almost forgot!" I got up and grabbed the wrapped box from under my bed.
He simply picked his up off the ground beside his chair.
"So who  goes first?" I asked.
           "I don't know," he shrugged.
           "Umm... Pick a number 1 or 2," I said.
"Uh... 2?" he said more question like.
           "Ash!" I yelled.
           "What?!" He yelled back.
           "1 or 2?"
           "Why?"
"Just do it!" I rolled my eyes.
           "1!" He shouted.
"Thank you!" I shouted then turned back to Isaac, and calmly said, "You're first."
            "Wait... what?"
"You chose 1 or 2 for me and then Ash decided, which number would start," I explained.
"Ooooookay then. I think I get your methods now," he said starting to rip open the wrapping paper. When he got to the box he looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Do you have any tape left at your house?" He asked raising the thoroughly taped box.
"Yes we do. Now come on open it!" I demanded.
"Okay okay sheesh. Just let me get my pocket knife," he said rummaging through his pocket. He pulled out his multi-tool and flipped out the knife part. He then proceeded to cut down the middle of the package and dug through the tissue paper, and his mouth dropped.
"No away!" He said looking up with wide eyes. "How? What? Dude!" He excitedly grabbed the game from the box. I sat there laughing at him. He looked like a little kid. "How'd you get this?! It doesn't come out for a week!"
"My brother finally got a job and it just so happens to be at a game shop, and he gets a discount therefore I get a discount, and first dibs on new games and movies," I explained.
"Well it's great! I wanna kiss you right now! But no you're there and I'm here," he pouted.
I was still slightly laughing at him. I kissed my pointer and middle fingers and held them up to the camera. He smiled and did the same.
"I love you! You're the best! Thank you so much!" He said still staring at the game.
"Love you too. You're welcome," I said happy that he liked it.
"Okay. Now you go!" He demanded.
"Yes sir," I said mockingly. I held the box up and began to tear into it. I unearthed a cardboard box and proceeded to open it, anticipation raising in me. I opened the box and inside were two colored tissue papers on each side. I gave Isaac a questioning look.
"Open green first then blue second," he explained.
I grabbed the green paper and set the box next to my laptop. It felt like a card or something inside. I unraveled the paper and two tickets to a Shawn Mendes concert fell into my hand.
My brain must've shut off because my eyes widened and I froze. I read the tickets over and over to make sure that my dyslexia wasn't going off the walls. Finally my brain started processing things again and tried to form words, which didn't work out so well.
       "H-? Wha-?"
"Shhh... It's okay. Keep going," he said smiling.
I grabbed the box and set the tickets on the keyboard. I quickly unraveled the blue tissue paper and if at all possible my eyes widen further. I know held two tickets to my all time favorite band, 5 Seconds of Summer. Instead of words I just started squealing.
"This can't be real! This is too good to be true!" I exclaimed, the squealing eventually turned words.
"There's more," he whispered. "Under the red tissue paper."
I took the red paper out of the box revealing VIP passes for both concerts. I scream this time. Don't judge me I couldn't help it.
I heard a pounding of footsteps running up the stairs. Ash ran into my room panting.
      "What's wrong?" He asked urgently.
"Nothing!" I exclaimed excitedly. "Read these!"
He examined the tickets and passes, and mumbled while reading, "5 Seconds of Summer, Shawn Mendes, and holy cow! VIP passes?"
He looked up at me and I pointed at my laptop. Isaac waved as Ash turned to him his eyes wide as well.
"Dude! How in the world did you afford these? They cost a ton of money!" Ash exclaimed.
"I have my ways and I may have entered a few sweepstakes and called some friends," he explained.
"Dude if she didn't love you before, she definitely loves you now," Ash laughing. He handed the stuff back to me and walked out.
I turned back to Isaac. "Thank you so much! These are great! I can't thank you enough! My goodness you're the best, I don't deserve you! How'd you even? These must've cost a butt load!"
"1) You're welcome. 2) Yes you can thank me enough, you're reaction was all I needed. 3) You're the best and I don't deserve you. 4) Like I said I entered a few sweepstakes and had my friends from my old school enter too and we won! Trust me it caused no inconvenience to my bank account or me," he explained.
"I love you so much," I said dreamily.
He kissed his two fingers and held them up, "I love you too."
I did the same. "Maybe this can be our new thing."
"I certainly have no problem with that," he replied with a smile.
