My friends Lisa and Mallory approached me when the bell rang signaling the end of school, and Isaac went to his locker.
"So?" Mallory asked excitedly.
"So... What?" I raised an eyebrow.
"You were partnered with Isaac and you guys looked pretty cozy," Lisa said.
"Yeah big deal. We were just talking and joking around," I shrugged.
"Come on it's a major step!" Lisa exclaimed and Mallory nodded her head excitedly.
"Yes yes, but still along way to go. So relax. Now if you mind I have a bus to catch and I'll see y'all tomorrow," I said taking a left while they walked straight yelling "see ya later!"
I walked to my bus and sat in the second to last seat, away from the obnoxious little children. Isaac came on, handed a note to the bus driver, and sat in the seat in front o me.
"Hello," he said.
"Why hi there," I replied with a laugh.
"So, which one of my friends rides this bus?"
"That one," I said pointing to Jared, who had just boarded the bus.
"Ugh! No time alone with my girlfriend! It's pissing me off," he grumbled in frustration.
"Hey dude! I didn't know you were riding my bus!" Jared said happy that he has someone who's not a girl to talk to.
"Last minute thing," Isaac shrugged.
"Ah. Hey Kat did you finish the geometry worksheet?" Jared asked.
"Yeah. Lemme guess you want to copy my answers," I smirked as I took the assignment out of my backpack.
He nodded his head excitedly and held out his hand.
I held it out, but snatched it away right when he touched it. He pouted.
"You have to do something for me if I'm gonna let you be lazy," I said deviously.
He groaned, "ugh! What must I do?!"
"You will watch Sparky all day tomorrow," I said.
"That's not too bad," he said going for the worksheet.
"Do you know, which dog is Sparky?" Isaac asked.
"Yeah the very calm Saint Bernard," Jared said matter-of-factly.
I bursted out laughing. "No! Sparky's the high strung husky. The one you're thinking of is Messo."
"Wait. I thought you- never mind," he mumbled. "Wait! Sparky's the one that hates me!"
"He doesn't hate you he's just crazy around people who aren't around too often," I shrugged.
"But why do I have to watch him tomorrow?! What are you doing?" He complained.
"I'm going to be doing things that do not concern the likes of you, and if you wanna pass this assignment I suggest you take the offer."
"Fine! I'll watch your psychotic dog! Now gimme the paper! Please."
"Here," I gave him the paper and he excitedly snatched it. He examined it before raising his eyebrows and slowly looking up at Isaac. "How do you know about her dogs?"
"They're all over her Facebook page," Isaac said like it was the most obvious thing in the world, which it kind of was. What can I say? I love my dogs.
"What do you do? Stalk her on Facebook?" Jared asked.
"Nooo, but when I scroll through my newsfeed I see pic after pic of her dogs," Isaac explained (lied).
"If you say so. Anyway Ariel will be arriving soon and I'm in no mood to hear her speak," he said putting his headphones up to his ears. "I suggest you do so too," he said to Isaac.
He turned just as my dear sister, Ariel, got on the bus. She plopped down in the seat across from me and said, "you need to get a boyfriend! You have no idea what you're missing! Seriously look at this!" She said showing off her neck, which was littered with hickeys.
"Ah... No thanks I'd rather not have that happen to me. That's gross," I meant that. Isaac and I have only gone as far as hugging and holding hands, and I'm fine with that. Honestly relationships nowadays move to quickly. I'm good with going slow.
"Awe, but why not?" She whined.
"Because what's the fun in someone biting your neck? What's everyone tryin' to prove? That they're vampires? No thanks."
"It shows that you're their's and no one else's," she explained.
"I'm not someone's property," I argued.
"That's not what I mean!" She sighed in exasperation. "It shows that you're their girlfriend and that no one else can have you."
"Gee I didn't know that there was such meaning behind people pretending to be vampires," I said sarcastically. Isaac began to laugh and Ariel finally noticed him.
Her eyes widened and she looked at me and wiggled her eyebrows.
I point my finger on my lips to say be quiet!
"Besides didn't you and Kyle start dating yesterday?" I asked.
"Yep!" She said excitedly.
I rolled my eyes and the bus pulled out.
"Wait why is he riding?" She whispered to me.
I shrugged my shoulders. "How am I supposed to know?"
"Well you do stalk him..." She whispers and I flicked her arm.
"Be quiet," I whisper-yelled.
"Alright, alright. My stop's coming up anyways."
"Wait what?"
"Mom wants me to get off at the rink so I can practice more before the big show next week," she explained.
"I see. Tell mom I say hi," I said as the bus bus stopped and she got off waving and gesturing for me to talk to Isaac.
"Wait a second, she's not really your sister," Isaac gave me a look of confusion. He looked so cute with that face.
"No, but we might as well be. We've been best friends since birth and going into kindergarten we decided that we were so close and we looked kinda similar that we could pull off being sisters. Only few people know that we're not. We practically live at each other's houses, since we live in the same neighborhood, and we call her mom, mom and my dad, dad. We both had a parent that left us and our parents. Her dad left before she was born, and my mom left a month after I was born. Plus our parents have googaly eyes for each other, so we hope that they'll date and then get married and then we'll actually be sisters," I explained.
"Girls are weird," he said with a sigh.
"We say the same about boys," I gave him a big, innocent, cheesy smile like a kid's. He merely chuckled and I laughed a little too.
Jared began to pack up his things an looked around realizing that Ariel was gone.
He sighed in relief and took out his earbuds. "Phew it's gone."
I laughed slightly and raised an eyebrow, "where are you going?"
"My dad's house, remember? It's Tuesday. I go to my dad's on Tuesdays," he explained.
"Oh yeah it's Tuesday!" Exclaimed face palming myself. "It feels like a Friday since break starts tomorrow."
We all began laughing. The bus stopped and Jared got off sending a wave in our direction. As soon a the bus pulled out Isaac sat beside me.
"Welp. It's just you, me, and 45 minutes back here, alone," Isaac said putting his arm across my shoulders and wiggling his eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes and smiled. "You're such a dork."
"Yeah, but just remember I'm your dork," he said tapping my nose.
I snuggled a little into his chest. "Yeah, yeah, yeah."
