Despite Isaac's comforting, I was still anxious as all heck at school the next day. Isaac was going to be late for school due to before school hockey practice, he thinks they'll be able to go to state, and that's why their coach is holding extra practices. So I enter the band room and my friends are circled up talking about something.
"Hey guys," I said quietly.
"Holy shit," Micaela said. "Are you sick?"
"No I don't have anything going on this morning," I shrugged and pulled up a chair and sat down, putting my arms on the back rest of the chair and putting my head in them.
"Glad to have you here!" Katie exclaimed.
"Yeah it's been a while," I responded.
"Okay so now we can tell you about the dance!" Ariel exclaimed.
"Oh yeah that's right! How was it?" I acted curious.
"It was nice. The D.J could've calmed down with the remixing though," Katie said.
"Yeah! That got really annoying after awhile, but other then that it was fun," Lisa agreed.
"That couple was back!" Micaela exclaimed. "They basically did the same thing this time; came late, and left early. Didn't separate once! They even kissed! I really want to know who they are!"
"Really? Weird. Did you see their faces? I mean it wasn't a masquerade, so what did they do?" I asked wanting to hear what they're thinking.
"No! They were the masks they wore to the Masquerade!" Ariel exclaimed.
"Really? What'd they wear this time?"
"He wore your basic suit and tie and she wore this beautiful black dress with a floral, lace pattern on top of the black. It was gorgeous! And her hair was elegantly braided, it had to have been done by a professional," Lisa commented.
"Wow they must really plan these things out."
"Yeah no kidding!" Micaela exclaimed. "You think they'll be at prom? What if they're underclassmen?"
"I guess we shall see," I said.
"You are going to prom right?" Ariel asked.
"Yup! My grandma's making my dress, and I asked off work, and I have everything settled," I stated.
"Good because we're all getting ready together. We will drag your ass if we have to," Ariel stated.
"Yes I understand," I put my hands up defensively.
"What's up? You seem distracted," Lauren asked.
I looked up at her and gave a smile, "yeah I'm fine. Just tired."
"Okaaay," she said, unconvinced. Lauren's really good at reading emotions, and sometimes it's annoying, like now.
"How about this. I'll tell you guys when I know what's going on," I offered.
"Alright, but you better," she commanded.
The bell sounded, and Mallory, Lisa, and Lauren went on their marry way to their first hours. Us band students on the other hand went to the hallway to grab our instruments from our prospective band lockers. Ariel and I were walking and joking around when a "pst' sounded from one of the practice rooms. We looked around, and shrugged it off and kept walking. It came again, and this time I saw Isaac stick his head out slightly.
"Hey I'm gonna go to the bathroom. You wanna come?" Ariel asked.
"Nah, I need to ask Mr. Wilson something before class starts," I shrugged, fake putting my combo into my locker.
"Oh fine! Micaela come with me!" she hollered. Miceala huffed, but followed along anyways.
When they exited the hallway, and I saw that the coast was clear for a second I ducked into the practice room. "Hey what's up?"
"Wanted to see you," Isaac responded wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Have you ever heard of taking a shower after practice?" I teased, pushing him away slightly.
"It was take a shower or come to school and say hi," he smirked, pulling me back into him.
"Great choice. Haven't you heard of cologne?" I asked plugging my nose.
"Ran out," he said simply.
"Let me go for a second."
"Why should I?"
"If you don't I'm not kissing you. It'll just be a second cheeseball."
"Fine," he huffed, and released his hold.
"Thank you," I shrugged my backpack off my shoulders. "You're lucky Ash keeps a bottle in my backpack just in case he forgets one because he's annoying." I took the bottle out and sprayed him.
"Whoa that shit is strong," he gagged.
"Yeah, you get used to it," I mumbled. "There you should be good."
"I think I'll be good until next week, geez," he laughed, smelling his pits. "Okay we actually have to get to class now." He wrapped arms around me again, and I returned the favour.
"See you 4th hour," I mumbled.
"You okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, still a little shaken," I sighed,
"Did you talk to your dad or brother?"
"No, I couldn't bring myself to do so, but I will."
"Okay. It'll be alright. You don't have to do anything," he started stroking my hair.
"No matter what I'll have to go back to court and testify," I turned my face into his shoulder.
"I know, but this time you're stronger, and if they put her away once, they'll do it again. Only a monster would think she's innocent. They shouldn't even be revisiting her case," he assured.
"I think since it's almost been five years, which was the minimum sentence they're trying to see if she deserves the minimum rather than the maximum," I explained.
"What was the maximum?"
"Fifteen, still not enough in my opinion, but it's better than five."
"Should be a lifetime sentence, for the shit that demon did to my angel," he grumbled, and started tightening his grip.
"Isaac. Hey, it's okay. It's like what you said, they put her away once and they can do it again. We just have to remain hopeful," I said looking up at him.
"You're right. It'll be okay," he let out a deep breath, hugging me close in the process.
I wanted to stay like that, but we only had a minute to get to class.
He leaned down, and pecked my lips, and we reluctantly separated.
"I'll see you 4th hour, we can even sit in here during lunch if you'd like," I suggested.
"Sounds good. I'll see you then," he kissed me again, and slipped out the door.
I took a deep breath, before exiting the room.
