The four elements

Chapter four. The stranger.

"Jay. Calm down." I whisper. He looks at me, and then at his hand. The flame disappears, but not fast enough. "Fire!" Someone screams. "The fire was coming from his hand!" Another one screams. Charlie looks at Jay with an evil smile. "So, you are a freak after all." He says. Jay looks like he want to disappear, as the flame. "I...that wasn't a flame." Says Jay, and hope that everyone will believe him. But no one does. Everyone backs away from the boy who made fire out of nowhere. I know that we have to get out of here, fast. Suddenly Darya see someone. "Enlil!" She scream. When Enlil  hear Darya he turn around surprised. "Elissa! Jay! Come on!" Screams Darya and we start running to Enlil. "Yeah! That's right freaks! Run! Run away like scared rabbits!" Screams Charlie after us. When Enlil see the crowd thats chasing us, he starts running towards us. I look around, searching for Raven. But as always, he haven't left my side. "What's happening?" He asks. "I'll tell you later, now we have to get out of here!" I say to Raven. Darya, who is a fast runner, has already reached Enlil. I look at Jay, there's no fear in his eyes. "I have to get Flame!" He says and run to the stable place. "Wait, there's not time!" I scream. "I'm not gonna abandon her!" Screams Jay and climbs over the fence to the pasture, where Flame stand. It only takes a couple of seconds for Jay to sit up on Flame, without bridle or saddle. Then they jump over the fence, and land safely on the other side. The crowd behind me is getting closer, and closer. Jay rides up beside me, and he's reaching out his hand. "Take my hand!" He say. Big animals are one of my greatest fears, I hesitate. "What is it? Come on, get up!" Says Jay. "I can't! I'm afraid of horses!" I scream. "Well it's this, or that!" Screams Jay and points on the crowd behind me, that's getting too close. "Come on Elissa, that's our only chance!" Raven looks at me with his green eyes. I take Jays hand, and he drags me up on the horse. I close my eyes and try to stay on the horse. "Follow us!" I scream when we reach Darya and Enlil. They start to run after us. I can see the giant forest, just twenty meters ahead of us. "Jay! The forest!" I scream and point at it. Jay nods, and steers Flame to the forest. I look behind me and see that Darya and Enlil are just a few meters behind me and Jay. We gallop into the giant forest, and I get a strange feeling. It's like someone is watching me. "Elissa!" Screams Darya. I turn around and see that Darya and Enlil are slowing down. "Jay! We have to stop!" I say, and feel how Flame careful slows down.

"What's going on?!" Asks Enlil when he and Darya reaches us. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have been insulting Charlie." I say and jump down from Flame. "You did what?!" Shouts Enlil surprised. "I'm sorry!" I say and look down at the ground. "Well, what's happened can't be changed. We have to do the best of the situation." Says Darya. Enlil looks at Darya. "We have to find a safe place, and make a fire." Says Enlil and starts to walk deeper into the forest. His eagle, Zephyr starts to fly over the treetops. "Good idea, brother." Says Darya. Both Jay and I get surprised. "Brother?!" We say in choir. Darya looks at us with a smile. "Yes, Enlil is my big brother." She say, and follow Enlil. Darya's backpack starts moving. "Misty! Wake up! I need someone to play with, Elissa is too slow." "I'm not slow!" I say to Raven, who's just trying to wake up Misty. Then I get that strange feeling again, someone is watching us. I look around, and almost don't believe my eyes. In one of the trees are a person! I blink, but when I open my eyes the person is gone.

When it's almost dark, Enlil finally finds a good place for the night. An open place with a giant fern in the middle, and a river a few meters from the fern. Everyone runs to the river to drink, everyone exept for Enlil. He walks straight to the fern and checks if it's rain-proof. "Enlil! Come you have to get some water!" Shouts Darya. I see something moving in the river, but it's hard to see in the dark. Then I see what it is. "There's fish in the river." I say. Raven jumps into the water and catches one salmon, and then another one. "Jay, can you get some wood for the fire?" Asks Enlil. "How much do we need?" Asks Jay and start walking to the edge of the open place. "So much you can carry." Says Enlil. "I could need some help then." Says Jay. Enlil looks around at us. "Elissa can you help Jay with the wood?" He asks. "Of course I can." I say and start running to Jay. I can't just sit around and wait, I need to do something. And by collecting wood for the fire, I can help and get something to do. "What a day." Says Jay and picks up a branch. "It could have been worse. I mean we could have been eaten by bears, or kidnapped by some stranger." I say wondering. Jay looks at me and smile. "We got magical powers, how can anyone kidnap us?" He say. I smile and throw a stick on him. "What was that good for?!" Asks Jay and looks surprised at me. "Yesterday you threw a football at me. Now we're even." I say and laugh at his surprised face. Then I get that feeling again. "I think someone is here." I say. Suddenly something jumps down right in front of us. "Then you think right." It says.
