The truth hit me, my friends weren't here. And I was 100% sure that the emo-demon was the cause.
He cocked his head to the side, "Is something wrong?"
My blood boiled, what was this guy's deal? First he rants about how much he wants me to be his "queen" ; then he sends Thomas into a terror-coma for almost 3 weeks. Now he kidnapped my friends? He was going to PAY.
"Where are they?" I asked through clenched teeth.
Damean pulled me close to him. "Who?"
I shoved him as hard as I could. "Don't give me that bullshit! Where are my friends?"
"They got in my way."
My chin quivered in anger. "Where. Are. They?"
"Don't worry about them."He wrapped his arm around my waist and dragged me along to the beat of the music. I yanked myself out of his grasp.
"Tell me!"
He frowned and the light flickered. Black mist poured into the room. It rolled and slid across the floor. The mist seemed to expand, it covered everything. All I could see was glowing violet eyes and darkness. When the mist cleared, I was in a familiar black room.
I was back inside Damean's castle. It looked just like it did in my dream, gloomy and creepy. Someone needed to do some redecorating. Oh the memories, why did I have to come back? Oh ya, because Damean is a demon-psycho who is holding my friends hostage!
He opened the heavy door and motioned for me to follow. The hallway was as gloomy and creepy as the room. Maybe even more. We twisted and turned through numerous doors and passageways. I tripped over my dress once or twice, what I wouldn't give to wear jeans and a t-shirt. After an eternity of walking, we reached the dungeon.
The floor was damp stone, and the dungeon smelled like musty sewage. Tiny 8-by-8 cells lined one wall. The wall across from it held various torture devices and death thing-a-ma jigs. A rat dashed in front of me. Wow, this place was depressing.
One of the cells held my friends. Their clothes were torn and they looked pretty beat up. Katie was trying to hold back tears.. Greg was sitting with his head between his legs. Erik and Thomas were both bandaging wound. The sight made me want to scream. At least they didn't go down without a fight.
I ran up to the cell bars. "Guys, I'm so sorry."
Katie jumped up and tried to hug me through the bars. "Sam!" she choked, "you came!"
Erik gave me a small smile. "Hey, Foxy, bring any food? I'm STARVING!"
I gave him a quick smirk and turned to face Damean. "Let them go, NOW!" I growled.
"Ooh," he chuckled, "is Mama-bear protecting her cubs?"
"I am not in the mood for games. Let my friends go!"
"And what will you do for me in return?"
I clenched my teeth. "You kidnapped the people that I care about; held them hostage in this crappy basement; and you are expecting a FAVOR? What is wrong with you?"
He smiled and leaned in close to me. God, this guy smelled of death and...peppermint? What the heck, not a good combo on the cologne dude! "Not a favor, an answer. I'm tired of playing cat and mouse, Samantha. This is your last chance, so what will it be?"
His smile was pissing me off, his dead-peppermint smell was choking me. Why? Of all places, of all the times, all the dreams (yes he did appear in my dreams for a quick second sometimes). Why now? I fell to my knees and screamed in frustration.
A hand placed itself lightly on my shoulder. I turned to see it was Thomas. He didn't say anything, he didn't have to. I looked around at everyone else, their eyes said the same thing.
'Leave us.'
Great, now I was crying. Warm tears flooded down my cheeks. "I can't"I whispered, "I won't."Greg touched my hand, "Please."
They were sacrificing themselves, for me. My chest was heaving, my breaths were short.
"No," I begged, "don't make me do this."
"An answer!" Damean demanded, "NOW!"
"Sam," Erik said, "if you really care about us, leave us. You know what will happen if he succeeds. He just needs you, Sam. He needs power. Even if you give in, he'll kill us, he'll sap out our power."
"That's why he needed the young Animegas," Katie added, "they were easily caught batteries."
"And the magical power he needs to destroy the Guardians is too great for one being, even an immortal being, to control. That's why he needs you."
"How long have you known this?" I asked.
"About a week." Katie answered.
"Enough!" Damean yelled. "I am tired of waiting! What is your answer Samantha? Yes, or No?"
"Go," they said.
I wiped away the tears and stood up to face Damean. "Go to Hell," I spat.
