My eyes fluttered open and peered at the wooden ceiling. A wave of panic poured over me. All the events of yesterday flooded into my mind. The dance, Damean's Castle, Calypso, all of it crashed upon me at once. Was it only yesterday that everything was perfect? Aside from wearing a dress, that part was closer to hell.

I sat up and looked around the large boxy tree house. It looked less frightening in the daytime, but everything did. Except for Damean, that guy was bad news in both day and night. Thomas sat back in his armchair; which I now saw had several tufts of cotton spurting from wounds in the leather.

He turned his head towards the window when I looked at him, an obvious sign that he had been staring at me. I stood up and crossed the room to the window. My back rested against the wall as a stared out into the dead land that lay before me. The familiar heat of Thomas' body appeared beside me.

"It wasn't always like this." He said. "The land, I mean."

My eyes softened at the sight of the perishing trees. "It must have been beautiful. But now..." I looked up at the purple tinted sky.

His warm breath blew itself onto the back of my neck. "I don't even know if I'm in the same forest or not. Everything was so happy back then, so bright and beautiful. Something deep inside tells me this is my home. But another part keeps warning me that this isn't the place I once loved. I don't know what to believe."

I turned towards him. "You're not just talking about this treehouse, are you?"

He looked down at the rotting floorboards. "I don't know who I am anymore. Before, I was certain that I had changed, that the murder inside of me had vanished. But after yesterday..."

"After yesterday, what?" Asked a voice. We both turned to see both Calypso and Katie awake.

I turned away from Thomas, "It's nothing. Just discussing his fight with Damean." It wasn't necessarily a lie. His rampage was a part of the event.

Calypso crossed her arms. "Mhm. Okay."

Katie looked worryingly over to the unconscious guys. "Do you think they'll be okay?" Calypso rushed over to the guys. She closed her eyes and muttered a few words under her breath.

"Tenebris Somnus," she muttered. "Dark sleep." Calypso turned back towards me. "How long have they been like this?"

"Almost a full day." I responded. "Why?"

She let loose a small smile. "There may still be time to save them." She hovered her hands over Erik's chest and muttered in a language I did not know. When she was done with her chanting, Erik sat up quickly.

"SAM DON'T LOOK!" he shouted. Erik looked around frantically, breathing hard. "W-what? Where?"

I laughed and tackled him in a hug. "You're okay!" Thomas chuckled behind me.

Erik smiled goofily. "Please tell me nobody kissed me."

A small giggle escaped my lips. Katie squealed as Greg sat up in a daze. She launched in the air and grappled him into a bear hug. Calypso stood off to one side, out of the way of the joy. I wandered over to her.

"How did you do that?" I asked excitedly.

She shrugged, "They would have died if I hadn't. All I did was suck out the dark energy."

I ruffled my brow. "Died? Thomas escaped with only a coma."

She looked down at her bare feet. "He's immune. Damean's Fear magic doesn't work as drastically on him. I think it might have to do with the fact that part of Damean's soul is inside of Thomas' body."
