Chapter 6
“Go back inside. I need someone to take care that no one starts a fight or something.”
Niall made a swift movement with his head, motioning Zayn away from me as we turned around, both looking at him gazes that seemed like we got caught. At what exactly? We didn’t do anything bad, he just wanted to take me home.
Judging by the fact that the blonde had demanded something and Zayn did it without hesitation, stepping away from my side, he must work for him. The tanned male’s hand rose, waving at me for the last time before going back into the club, leaving me alone with an obviously unamused Niall.
“What the fuck was that?” He scoffed at me as he walked closer, anger and even a little bit of jealousy became visible within those blue spheres of his. I narrowed my eyes, averting my gaze in annoyance. How dare he to tell me to stay away from him, and then bitch at me for getting driven by another guy?
“It’s none of your business, Niall. As far as I remember, you said that I shouldn’t be around you.” I said the last five words in his thick, irish accent which made him grin for a split second, before his facial expression went back to being filled with wrath.
“I said you shouldn’t. Doesn’t mean that I’m going to avoid you. I just warned you, and if you take my warning serious, you should slap me in the face and go. Take this as an advice.”
Oh. Biting down onto my lower lip with my teeth, I stared at the ground, thinking about his words. He confused me… and I barely knew him. We met two days ago, and he already advised me to go away. This wasn’t normal… Not at all.
I wanted to do what he asked me to do, but something inside of me couldn’t. There was something about him that made it impossible for me to let go of what we had, whatever it was, and his gaze upon me only strengthened that feeling.
“Sorry to disappoint you, but I ain’t going nowhere.”
My brown hues stared up into his ocean blue ones, and I met something I didn’t expect, a smile. The corners of his lips were tugged up and his teeth were showing. This was the first time I’ve actually seen him smiling, I thought and returned the gesture, my cheeks reddened slightly as I smiled back.
“Sounds good to me,” He took a small break of speaking, “So… You wanted to go home?” I nodded in response, and he took my hand, filling the gaps between my fingers with his as he pulled me along with him, towards the nearby parking lot where his Audi remained.
His grasp upon my hand made me shiver. Not because I felt uncomfortable, but because I felt surprised. His hand was so much larger than mine, and they were warm, compared to those freezing digits of mine. I always had cold hands, and he warmed them up naturally.
We entered the car and he drove away from the Millenium, not asking me for directions since this wasn’t the first time he had to drive me home. I went quiet as I sat on the passenger seat; my hazel irises glanced out of the window, and then wandered over to Niall, whose gazes were focused on the road before him. I felt like he was avoiding looking at me, but I wasn’t sure…
I think he noticed my stare, and looked over at me for a brief moment, meeting my gaze for a little while before staring back forward. “What are you looking at?” He asked me, making me turn my head away in faint embarrassment. “Am I not allowed to look?”
He laughed, and his laughter made my heart race. Oh my god, this was the most adorable thing ever. “You are.” As the car stopped, I looked out of the window to see the apartment complex I lived in. Well, guess it was time to say goodbye.
“Thanks for driving… Um… Mind to come with me? I could serve you a coffee to make it up to you.”
I offered, the alcohol seemed to still work, since I would have never been able to ask something like that if I was completely sober. He seemed surprised and obviously thought about it, and I was afraid that he would deny it, but he didn’t.
“I’d love to.”
We both exited the car and I walked forward, leading him along with me as we made our way towards the huge building, getting into the elevator that would bring us to the floor my apartment remained at.
Unlocking the door, I turned the lights on and stepped into my apartment, with Niall following behind and looking around in curiosity. I asked him to sit down on the couch in the living room and make himself feel comfy, while I took my coat off and went into the kitchen.
I still couldn’t believe that this was happening. Niall was in my apartment, and I made coffee for him. Kiki would freak out- Kiki. I totally forgot about her. I hoped she was fine, but then again, Harry was with her so there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.
Once the two cups of coffee were prepared, I also put some biscuits on a plate, placing everything on a try to carry it into the living room. As I entered the room, I saw Niall sitting on the black leather sofa, leaning back while his jacket hung on one of the stools next to him.
As he took one of the cups off the tray, I put it down onto the glass table in front of us and sat down beside him, taking a biscuit with my index finger and thumb, leading it towards my mouth. He took a sip of the coffee and turned his head towards me while I chewed on the caramel biscuit. Those were my favorite.
“Nice apartment,” He said. I thanked him, and he continued speaking, “I didn’t expect to ever see it.” Laughing softly, I agreed to him. It was true. I never thought that he would get to see the inside of my apartment, and the fact that I had invited him home after two days since we met was somehow shocking.
I usually liked to take it slow, and inviting someone home was in fact, intimate in a way, but we were only going to drink coffee, nothing more. He drove me home and I wanted to thank him by making him coffee. That was it. Really.
Really?
