Chapter 11
As I made my way home by taking the bus, without Niall driving since I didn’t feel like facing him at the moment, I directly went for a shower, letting the warm water ease the tense of my aching muscles.
My mind was filled with nothing but Niall, and I tried so hard to remember last night, but I couldn’t see anything sharply. It was all a big blur, which I really despised. I wanted to remember everything I said to him… Maybe I confessed my crush?
Nah, I thought then, he would have acted differently if he knew. Okay, our little conversation had been awkward, but it didn’t seem like he knew of my emotions, or did he? He would tell me, wouldn’t he?
I spent half an hour under the shower head, thinking about these and millions of other questions as I finally turned the water off, pushed the shower curtain aside and stepped out, grabbing my white bathrobe while sliding it on.
It’s Sunday, I guess I should spend some time on my essay for college today. I had nothing else to do, nor did I want to go for any activities at the moment. Drying my hair and tying it up into a ponytail, I took my light pink onesie on, and placed my reading glasses above the bridge of my nose, ready to get on my laptop to write.
And yes, I looked like a noob right now, but I didn’t care. I was at home anyways. As for the glasses, I only use them while reading a book or getting on the computer, but never in public. Preparing a coffee for myself, I grabbed my laptop and sat down on the couch in the living room, beginning to work on my essay for English Literature.
I had written about five pages when my eyes began to burn, and I moved the laptop away from my lap, taking my glasses off and rubbing my eyes. A break was needed. My stomach began to growl as well, and since my fridge was empty, I decided to go for a pizza.
My fingers wrapped around my iPhone and I dialed the nearby pizzeria’s number, pressing the phone against my pierced ear. I ordered a medium sized pizza with mushrooms, paprika, artichokes and jalapeños, lying down on the couch once I hung up.
My eyes shut as I tried to rest them a little, my breathing was calm and steady. I was not sleeping, but it was something between being awake and asleep at the same time…. A trance, I guess. I remained in this estate until I heard my doorbell ring, and my eyes opened immediately.
Getting up, I put my glasses back on and let the delivery guy in into the building, telling him which floor it was through the door phone. I opened the front door, so he could see whom the delivery was for.
I waited about three minutes before I saw the boy with the brown hair and blue eyes step out of the elevator, walking over to me. “Your delivery has arrived.” He said, holding the pizza box towards me, smiling brightly.
He was rather good looking, and I saw his name tag on the red polo with the logo of the pizzeria; Louis Tomlinson. I wondered if he didn’t question my current looks at all. But then again, he was a delivery guy and I think they don’t judge others by their looks during work time.
I’m weird, don’t mind my nonsense thoughts.
I paid the bill and gave him some tip, mainly because I liked his smile, before taking the pizza in and closing the door. Sitting down on the sofa once again, I opened the box and the smell of freshly made, warm pizza filled my nostrils.
I guess I have to go to the gym after this, but for now, I’d just enjoy my time with this delicious piece of heaven. While eating the pizza, I leaned back and for once, I didn’t think about Niall. I decided to clear my head completely for now, and just take time for myself.
Once my meal was finished, I went for a quick trip to the toilet and got dressed, slipping out of the comfortable onesie while opening my wardrobe and looking for something decent to wear. The weather seemed rather pleasant today, so I went for a dress.
The floral printed cloth was skinny at the top, with sleeves that ended at my elbows and a round neckline, while the skirt part flowed down until it almost reached my knees. I wore a mint colored cardigan over it and stuck my feet into a pair of flat sandals, untying my hair and brushing it.
Putting the straps of my brown, small bag around my shoulder, I exited my apartment, locking the door while heading to the elevator. I applied a little amount of concealer on my face in front of the mirror at the elevator, hiding two pimples that had appeared on my skin.
Aside from that, I didn’t wear any make up. Like, who would see me anyways? I only covered the pimples because they bugged me, not because I was afraid of anyone else seeing them. I mean, humans had flaws, and I was pretty sure I wasn’t the only person who ever got a little pimple.
Getting out of the large building, I greeted the familiar people, my neighbors, whom passed me by, exiting the area the complex remained in by stepping out of the gates and walking into a random direction, going for a simple walk.
The sun’s rays hit me in the face, and I began to regret not taking sunglasses with me. My eyes turned into slits as I narrowed them, looking at the ground to avoid the bright light. As I made my way towards a park, I sat down on a bench, watching the children play while a small smile formed on my lips.
I’ve always wanted children, I thought, and not too long ago I thought that Daniel would be the father of my kids. Guess I was wrong. Some things change, I realized that. I was not going to cry after him anymore.
Maybe Niall would be my man? Oh, Jolie, stop dreaming. I didn’t think that he had mutual feelings for me. As for the make-out session last night, we were both drunk. That was the explanation of it all. It was a onetime thing, and I would be careful not to repeat that.
The situation between us was already awkward, and I had yet to face the others whom had attended the party as well and had seen what went on. Oh god. I felt like I was back in high school. Things like this hadn’t happened ever since my first time.
Niall coming into my life really messed some things up, just like a storm.
