Chapter 4

Wow.

I scanned myself in the large mirror at the wall of my bedroom, and twirled one last time to catch a good look at my party outfit. I wore a yellow peplum top with the collar part being black, and an oval slit at my bust part, that would slightly reveal my cleavage, but didn’t show too much.

My pale legs were covered in skinny, black leather pants, and my feet were stuck in yellow pumps with thin black straps decorating the front. With a black metal cuff on the one, and a black Michael Kors watch on the other arm, I took my triangle earrings on and grabbed my black wallet, waiting for Kiki to ring me.

For the first time in those past two days, I actually looked nice. I didn’t apply a heavy make-up, since the outfit already spoke for itself; I had a thick line of eyeliner above my lashes, and pink blush was staining my cheek bones whilst my lips were tinted in a nude lipstick.

As my phone screen lit up and I saw that my best friend messaged me that she was waiting at the entrance of the complex, I grabbed my coat and took it on, exiting my apartment and locking the door. Relax, I told myself as I entered the elevator, and made my way down those nine floors.

“You look pretty hot,”

Kiki complimented me as I approached her, a smile curled up on my lips. She laughed in response and I returned those words, getting into the passenger seat of her navy blue Volvo as she turned the engines on.

“So, what happened yesterday?”

I didn’t hesitate to tell her everything and basically emptied my heart to her during our drive, and she eyed me with concerned gazes. Daniel, those men, Niall, I didn’t keep anything from her and I was finished once we reached our destination, a club that went by the name Millenium.

“Don’t try to think of what happened. Tonight we’re here to have fun, Jo.”

I nodded at her statement, smiling while looking forward.

There was a big sign in neon letters with the name on it, along with several people standing in a line to enter. The bouncers obviously didn’t let everyone in, and I wondered how the hell we would get into an exclusive club like this. Kiki shot me a don’t worry-glance and my lips pressed together in a thin line, obviously not sure how to feel about this.

She grasped my hand and pulled me with her, talking to the guard while my ears were occupied with the loud electro music that came from inside. Surprisingly, he let us pass and I gave Kiki a questioning look, to which she responded,

“Harry’s friend is the owner of this club.”

Harry was Kiki’s boyfriend. They have been dating for about five months, and he seemed like a nice guy. I wasn’t sure, but I heard rumors of him being involved in dark business, but I tried not to think about that, for Kiki’s sake. He treated her too well to get her into trouble like that. Yeah, she was my friend and I cared about her, but I saw their love and didn’t want to destroy any of that.

“Nice.”

I mumbled and my friend disappeared into the crowd, obviously searching for Harry while I straightly made my way towards the bar, where a tanned beauty served the drinks. She had black hair that was tied into a ponytail and wore a corset top with a black skirt. That was most likely her ‘duty’ outfit.

“A Piña Colada, please.”

I ordered my drink as she came towards me, and then turned back around to prepare the cocktail. The DJ played ‘Change the way you kiss me’ by Example and the crowd went crazy at the techno, or was it dubstep?-parts and I saw that many bodies grinded against each other, as the party people had already started to drink vigorously.
