Chapter 24
The rumbling sound of moving chairs was audible as I pushed my seat back, rising up to my feet with an angered expression sprawling across my face, my brown eyes glared at him as the words had left his lips. He shot me a puzzled look, getting up as well as I grabbed his arm forcefully.
“What makes you think that I am going to accept that shitty ass offer?!”
I almost yelled, my voice got higher as tears were eager to escape my eyes and roll down my cheeks. For real now, after making a confession like that, did he think that I was going to act all ‘Oh well then, see ya sometime, goodbye’?
His reaction was unusual for him. Niall seemed to panic, his hands were shaky as he took hold of my back, pulling me into a tight embrace while repeatedly stroking up and down my hair. I had never seen him in an estate like this.
As my head pressed against his chest, I felt his heart beating fast, and his whole body trembled. I didn’t care that the people in the café thought that we were completely nuts, I just wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tighter than ever, refusing to let go.
“I was hoping for that response…”
I heard him whisper into my ear, and I felt something wet upon my head. Glancing up, my eyes widened at the sight; Niall’s eyes were damp and his cheeks were reddened, as a sign that he was crying. The thought made me shiver.
I made Niall cry.
With him in this condition, I couldn’t stay mad at him. In my whole existence of nineteen years, I had never experienced a man crying over me. It was a heartbreaking emotion that came along with it, completely unbelievable but absolutely real.
Getting on the tips of my toes, I loosened an arm from around his torso, just to move it up and run my hand into his short, brown hair, grabbing it slightly while pulling his head down. With a swift motion, I pressed a deep kiss onto his lips; my eyes squeezed shut as tears streamed down my face.
We remained in this position for quite a while as someone cleared their throat behind us. Pulling away from the kiss that was filled with nostalgia and want, we glanced at the owner of the café whom was standing a few feet away from us, her arms were crossed.
“As much as I am touched by your little scenery here, I would kindly ask you to leave because you are disturbing the other guests,”
The middle aged woman currently seemed like one of the most heartless people in the world to me, but to be damn honest, I didn’t give two shits. Niall gave her a death glare, letting go of me with one arm to slide it into the pocket of his coat, pulling a ten pound bill out of it to hand it to the female.
“Keep the change,”
He muttered and with that we stepped out of the café, his arm was tightly grasping onto my waist as I leaned against him, having enough of the explanations but rather wanting to be with him and no one else. If he only knew about what I went through while he wasn’t around…
“I heard you didn’t go to college for the past week,”
The brunette interrupted my thoughts, making me look up at him as we left the car in the parking lot and walked along the streets, the sun’s rays warmed our skins despite the chilly breeze that occurred. The London weather was weird, really, but I didn’t mind at the moment.
“How?”
“I asked a few of your friends. I wanted to pick you up but you weren’t there,”
He paused shortly.
“No one wanted to give me a valid response on why though.”
I lowered my gaze, guilty glancing at the ground as he moved his hand up and down my waist, seemingly trying to comfort me as we walked.
“What happened?”
His question made me sigh. I was pretty sure that Niall would flip shit if he found out that I had been living with Caleb for the past week, but he had no reason to. Nothing happened, he never tried to make a serious move on me, and we slept in different rooms.
“I had an argument with my dad,” I began, “And moved out of the apartment since he bought it for me.”
His eyes went wide as he stared down at me, stopping to walk as I looked up at him, not sure of what to say or what to do. I knew all too well what his next question would be, and without him asking for it, I decided to give him the answer already.
“I spent the past week at Caleb’s home.”
Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.
Niall was going to explode in three… two…
“Tell me the address and we’re driving there to pick your stuff up. You’re coming with me.”
His voice was incredibly calm as he spoke, and I knew that he was doing his best to hold his anger back. I somehow understood why, after all, he couldn’t blame me for calling Caleb instead of him for help. It was not like Caleb left me without a warning after a visit at the hospital.
“Am I going to move in… with you?”
“Well, something like that,”
He mumbled, turning around on his heels while leading me back to his car to drive to Caleb’s place.

“Where exactly are we going?”
I asked as we left the place, I left the keys along with a note on why I was leaving on the kitchen counter. We were driving for about twenty minutes now, and this was most certainly not the way to Niall’s home. It was odd.
“You’ll see. Now that you are deeper involved with me than I originally planned,”
He shot me a small grin,
“You have all rights in the world to know about what I am actually doing for a living… and my lifestyle in general.”
That answer was not satisfying at all, but instead of bombarding him with even more questions which were running along my confused mind, I kept my mouth shut and looked out of the window of the passenger seat, watching the various trees we passed as he entered a road that seemingly led into a forest.
“Are you a hunter or what?”
I muttered under my breath as we drove deeper and deeper into the forest, the road became smaller and a stiff laugh left his lips.
“Not in the way you might think, but that was a good first assumption.”
Now I was really curious to find out what his actual job was. From what he said, I put the puzzle pieces together and assumed that the Millenium club had been nothing but a cover to hide his true tracks,
Whatever they might be.
