Chapter 18

My eyes were beginning to tear up when I saw Niall standing there, his gaze met mine and confusion was plastered onto his visage. I averted my eyes from him, and I guess that was when he got what was going on.

His attire reminded me of what the vampires in the Underworld series wore, and the expression that had now appeared on his face only strengthened that. It was cold. I didn’t want to keep looking, but his ocean blue eyes had changed. I felt like the Niall I fell in love with was nowhere in sight.

Then again, he probably tricked you. He most likely pretended to be someone he is not, and now you are going to see his true self, my inner conscious kept on interrupting my naïve thoughts with speeches like these, and I felt like I would go crazy.

My whole world had fallen into pieces. My dad was part of some illegal weapon trading organization, I got kidnapped and worst of all, the one that had helped me to mend my broken heart damaged me in the worst way possible.

I wanted nothing more than to scream as loud as I could, rip my hair out and break something, but I couldn’t. I didn’t have the strength to do so. My kidnappers had shared their plan of wanting to kill Niall with me, and what would I do?

“Ah, Niall, we knew that you’d come,” The man with the burnt face said, grinning mischievously as he stepped forward towards the blonde. “Blake,” Niall hissed his name, his eyes turned into slits as he glared at him.

“This girl means more to you than I thought,” Blake approached him, circling him while keeping a certain distance to the black-clad male. His boney face seemed even scarier now in the angle of the light that shone down onto him, and I bit my lower lip, not daring to analyze his facial features closely.

“But don’t get your hopes up high. We told her about your games,” As these words left his lips, Niall’s eyes widened and he looked at me, I felt like his eyes were piercing into my soul. I managed to look back at him, trying to look as mad as possible, but I was on the edge of crying.

And not to mention, I sucked at hiding my emotions.

“Jo-“ Niall wanted to come to me, but I shook my head. It was the only thing I was capable of doing right now. As much as I wanted to lose control, I was drained out of energy, and would most likely pass out soon.

“Aw, how sad,” One of the two other man made a pouting face towards Niall before joining Blake, the last one accompanied them as well as they now remained in a triangle around the blonde, eyeing him with evil eyes.

Suddenly, Blake took out a gun, pointing with the tip at him. Niall froze, looking at the caliber with an emotionless look as he stuffed his hands in the pockets of his jacket. He didn’t seem to be afraid of dying, now did he?

“I should have known that this was a trap,” A small sigh left his lips as he eyed the male with the half burnt face with an expression made of stone, “You would never hurt the daughter of one of your clients.”

“But I was stupid enough to believe this stupid message you left for me, along with the unconscious guy in Jolie’s apartment.” Oh damn, I completely forgot about Caleb. But I couldn’t keep my worry on Caleb for long, because Niall was in a worse estate right now.

They had portrayed Niall as the bad guy to me, and every sane human being on this planet would probably be on their side. The worst part of this was that I couldn’t. I couldn’t watch Niall die. Even though he lied to me like that, he didn’t deserve a death like this.

I had a hard decision to make within my head, and as I found my choice, without even thinking properly of the consequences, a loud bang came from the ceiling of the room, and with more sounds that reminded me of little explosions, several people entered the room through ropes that hung down from the roof.
