Chapter 1

Damn, I mentally cursed as my feet carried me along those dark alleyways. How in the hell did I get the ideas to use a shortcut to go back home? It was scary, and the faint street lanterns, along with the moonlight were the only light sources I had.

The quiet sound of my footsteps was all I heard, and in the distance, a few drunken men’s voices echoed throughout the area. When I felt like coming closer to them, I kept my head even lower than before, praying that they would not see me.

If they did, I would be dead, for sure. And like the dumbass I was, I left my phone at home as well. Daniel, I blame you. Pulling the hood of my coat over my head, I began to carefully pass them by as one of them caught sight of me, and started whistling.

I ignored his attempt to hit on me and kept walking forward, causing the group of three men to follow me, calling after me. “Why so hurried? Stay with us babe,” One of them said, and I sped up, walking even faster than before.

But unfortunately, I entered a blind alley and stopped walking, turning around to see them coming closer with sinister expressions plastered onto their visages. They were up to no good, and I was damn scared. One of them stepped closer to me, and grasped my wrist.

“We called you, why did you ignore us?” He said, laughing evilly while his friends joined in. I attempted to pull my hand away from him, but he just pressed me against the wall, his free hand worked on my coat as I yelled for help, but who was out on the streets at this time of day?

As he slid my coat off, I managed to free my hand and slapped him with all my strength, his head moved to the side by my harsh move while anger began to boil up on his face. “You stupid bitch!” He forcefully pushed me against the wall and I groaned in pain, preparing myself for the worst.

Right when he took a swing to hit me back, a fist landed right on his left cheek, making him spit blood as he let go of me and fell onto the ground, his companions looked at him with shocked gazes. My shut eyes opened, and I looked up into the face of a stranger.

His facial expression was beyond furious, and he cracked his knuckles, proceeding to beat the man up while the others tried to help him, but ended up getting hit by the mysterious ‘hero’. I was too shocked to move away, and when one of the men flew against me, my head banged against the wall from the force.

My sight went blurry and I slid down the wall, landing onto the ground as I looked up one last time, to see the stranger glancing at me, concern suddenly filled his eyes. Before I knew what was going on, I fell unconscious, lying on the ground like a lifeless corpse.
