NICOLE POV

As everyone emptied their supplies into a backpack or the daut (depending on whether they were magicians or demigods) I couldn’t help but notice a tense boundary between the two. They didn’t speak to each other. I couldn’t tell if it was just the tenseness of the quest, or if they simply didn’t like each other. My guess was the latter, though I didn’t say anything about it.

“Annabeth, Nico. Could you come with me please? I need your help.” I asked, standing by the doorway and breaking the gloomy sadness.

They looked up from their supplies and silently followed me out the door.

“What’s going on?” Asked Nico as he leaned against the wall, arms crossed.

“I think you two can help me most in this matter. We need to find an entrance to the…the…oh I need a name for this place.”

“Apollumi Phos.” Annabeth spoke up quickly.

“Call it apollumi phos. It means ‘Lose Light’ in Greek.”

“What a cheerful name. Okay, we need to find an opening to the AP. Nico, you know the place best. Annabeth, you’re the smartest. I’m clueless. I need your help finding the entrance.”

“Do either of you have a map?” Annabeth asked.

“Uh, yeah, yeah.” I said, not expecting her to answer so quickly. “There’s some in the library.” I said, leading them down the hallway.

Pulling a map of a display case, I spread it across a table.

“Here.” I turned the map so it was facing Annabeth.”

“Nico,” Annabeth said sharply, taking charge. “You said the entrances and exits shift. Where was the last entrance you found?”

“It was here, at Hell Gate bridge.” Annabeth circled the area Nico pointed to in a red pen she had pulled out of her pocket.

“Man, these names are so happy.” I interrupted.

“Hell Gate is in New York. Where did you find it before and how long before?”

“There was another entrance at the Gateway Arch, about two three months before.”

Annabeth made a small sound in her throat before circling that too.

She stood in silence staring at the map, only for a moment before she spoke scientific nonsense rapidly fast. I didn’t understand a word she said, and apparently neither did Nico by the look on his face.

After marking the map with millions of red dots, lines, squiggles, and other symbols, Annabeth stopped.

“If my assumption is correct, the next opening should be at Tower Bridge, London.”

She said, putting a star over our destination.”

------------

“Why not just travel through the daut? We slip through a few layers, come up later, and bam. We’re there.” Carter asked.

“We have too big a group. And we have no clue how safe it would be for the demigods in the daut.” I explained before continuing. “Because our group is so big, we will attract both Greek and Egyptian monsters and threats.”

Everyone’s face hardened at that. “We have a far long way to go. We have to get all the way to London, so we have to leave now. We can’t take the pegasi; We’ll attract too much attention. Other news.” I said, clasping my hands together. “Leo has left to ready the Argo ll. He will meet us at the docks at the docks of the very eastern tip of long island. That’s how we’re going to travel. He said it will take him a day to prepare the boat and to get it down there. So we have a day to travel down there. Pretty easy start.”
