NICOLE POV

I had to say, even though Nico was a quiet one, he was a fantastic leader. He held a sense of power, and he was able to express the power he held even without words.

He lead us through the winding streets easily, as if he had grown up here. I guess he was a traveler. He was used to moving around. We could see Tower bridge in the distance, standing out against all the normal bridges. At one point I could tell we were in a familiar place for Sadie. She kept staring at this one road, as if she followed it, it would lead her home. Which I suppose it was. This was home for her. She moved swiftly with Nico, each of them knowing precisely where to go.

Everyone chatted around me, and I tried to pay attention as Leo told jokes behind me.

“Nikki? Nikki?” Leo waved a hand in front of my face.

I didn’t know what was happening. Before my shadows were taking my friends, vanishing with them before throwing them dead against the ground. Leo wouldn’t let me help. He held me back, not wanting me to get hurt. I screamed and thrashed as first it was Maia, then Sadie, then Blake, and Jason, Piper, so on and so on. But it felt too real. These things were killing my friends before my eyes. “Nikki,” Leo said before me. “Stay here.” He kissed me gently but it felt like I was touching a breeze. “I’ll be right back.” He pushed me behind something invisible, trapping me but still allowing me to see what was going on. I pounded against the invisible force as Leo walked out against the shadows, trying to protect those who were still alive. No matter what he did, it did no good. His strikes would pass through the shadows. I screamed as Leo looked at me, alarm in his eyes as the shadows men passed over him, leaving him dead on the floor.

I sat up screaming, tears streaming down my face. Leo bolted up beside me, blinking the sleep out of his eyes. As he saw me crying, he instantly pulled me against him. “It’s okay…It was just a dream. You’re fine.”

“You died. Everyone died.” I choked out the words.

“No, no it’s okay. Everyone is alive. Everyone is alive and here.” He soothed.

By some miracle no one else had woken up by my scream. “Look around, everyone is fine.”

Leo gently tilted my wet face up to see the breathing bodies of everyone in the moonlight. “Do you see? Everyone is okay.”

I sighed a shaky breath, calming down from my nightmare. “A dream…” I muttered to myself in reassurance. “Just a dream…” I buried myself against Leo, feeling his heart beat well and alive. It was only a dream, just a dream. It wasn’t a vision, it wasn’t anything like that. I knew the difference between the feeling of a dream and some sort of message that I get of a demigod or magician.

It was dream, make purely by my imagination.

Leo rubbed my back comfortingly, holding me against him as he slowly laid us both down.  “Try to get some more rest, okay?”

I nodded, trying to fall back asleep.

“Did you hear me?”

I nodded, still looking out for the dump Hephaestus had mentioned. “Yeah yeah, that’s very funny Leo.” I muttered absentmindedly.

“No it’s not. You’re not laughing.” His sad tone got my attention.

“No, no it is funny. I’m just a little distracted, that’s all. Sorry, I’ll try to pay better attent-” I cut off seeing a dump that had an unnatural feel coming from it.
