NICOLE POV

I had shut down, and not even tried to fix myself. Who knew that one kiss from Leo could fix everything I was feeling? As I walked back to my cabin, I felt brand new.

The door creaked open and shut, as I walked into the empty room.

Or at least, I thought it was empty.

“Nico! What are you doing here?” He was standing in the corner of the room, arms crossed across his chest.

“You’re leaving tomorrow. I thought I should give you at least a goodbye.”

I forgot. How could I have been so stupid as to waste my time sulking?

“Oh…” I cleared my throat. “Yeah, I guess I do leave tomorrow.”

Nico walked over to me.

“You don’t want to leave.”

“Before I didn’t care. Now…”

“I woke up. Suddenly…I just started feeling happy again.”

“In other words, Leo happened.”

I lowered my head. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be. You’re my friend; not my girlfriend.”

I turned my head to look back up at him. He was now half a head taller now. He just kept growing.

“So…just friends?”

“I have a feeling that after awhile we would have started to get on each others nerves.”

“I don’t think so. You’re my best friend. You wouldn’t get on my nerves.”

Nico laughed lightly.

“Come on. I couldn’t make you happy when you were sad. Only he could.” He wouldn’t say Leo’s name.

“Nico…”

“You don’t have time to waste. Want me to help you?”

“Help me with what?”

“Your face. I’ve spent enough time in the shadows to read facial expressions.  When you came in, you were planning to get ready for a date, weren’t you?”

“Yes.” I admitted.

“And I assumed you didn’t want to go to that in a superhero costume.”

I looked down, remembering my getup.

“Oh, yeah.” I looked up again, smiling. “Sure. Help me if you want. What color do you think I look best in?”

“You look beautiful in all of them, but Yellow, white, and blue look brilliant on you.”

“When did you become a fashion expert?”

“There are many things you learn from having an older sister.”

I came out of the bathroom a few outfits later, twirling in a simple white dress.

“How about this?”

Nico smiled from his seat on the bed. He was stretched out on the bed, arms behind his head looking more and more relaxed with each second.

“Gorgeous.”

I blushed, walking over to him.

“Thanks, Nico.”

“No problem.” He sat up, swinging his legs off and letting them hang over the edge of the bed.

“I’m going to miss you.”
