NICOLE POV

My head was pounding. I couldn’t remember what had happened.

I groaned, turning over and sitting up. “My head…” I groaned.

“Nikki, lay back down.” Two hands rested gently on my shoulders and pushed me back into the warm comfort of a bed. I didn’t protest.

“My head…” I whined again. “It hurts.”

“I know…I know... It will feel better in a bit. Just give it some time.” Someone’s knuckles brushed against my cheek, pushing away a bit of hair.

I opened my eyes, to find Leo standing above me.

“What the Daut happened?” I muttered, placing my hand over his to hold I against my face.

Leo chuckled softly.

“Your attitude...” He whispered to himself under his breath. “Ares got into the ship and got to you. He cut off your air.”

“I’ll cut off his air…” I mumbled, trying to sit up again. Leo pushed me back down a second time.

“I said stay. Look, I’ll be right back. Everyone was really worried about you. I’m going to go get them so they know you’re fine.” He jolted about to move from his seat before deciding against it. “And STAY DOWN.” He ordered before pressing his lips into mine and walking out.

I stared up at the ceiling in a bit of a daze. Man, Leo was a great kisser. (But honestly how would I know, I had only been kissed by one other guy.)

Luke burst into the room, coming over to the bed and sitting next to me. “Hey Niks. How you doing?”

“I’m fine.” I laughed. “Now would everyone stop worrying? I’m surprised you’re so worried.”

“I wouldn’t want to lose such a great sword fighter.”

“Well, thanks.” I said, sitting up despite what Leo said. The pounding in my head came back, but I ignored it.

Percy came in next, coming to my other side. “You okay, Nicole?”

“I’m fine Percy.” I gently pushed him aside so I could stand up.

My feet didn’t want to listen so taking a step sent me tumbling over.

Percy caught me, asking me if I was sure that I was fine.

“Just light headed, if I get walking and moving it will clear.” I said, pushing myself away from him and walking towards the door. My steps slowly felt more normal as I kept going, out the bedroom door and down the hall and finally up to the deck for some fresh air.

I found Annabeth, Piper, Hazel, Sadie, and Maia all playing a card game up on deck.

They looked up at my approach, waved a quick hello and went back to their game.

“When a girl says don’t worry, you don’t worry.” Annabeth said to the boys without looking up.

“Okay, okay. We’ll believe you all next time.” Percy replied as he walked over to his girlfriend, leaning over the top of her head to kiss her upside down.

“What game are we playing?” Percy asked as he sat down next to her.

“You’re not playing. I’m playing it.”

Percy made a pouty face. “But Annabeth! I’m good at games!”

“No, you’re not. Sorry Seaweed Brain, but every time I let you help me, you shout out possible moves, and I lose. Go play something else.”
