I meet Adam at that exact place and he takes me to the cafeteria for lunch. Everyone does the Time Warp dance in perfect synchronisation, and then immediately carries on like nothing happened. We get the very dish that puts whatever the name of this school is on the map: the croissagel. It's like a croissant but with a bagel inside. It tastes like sewage.
After that, we hurry through many corridors to get to the club. Apparently it's a kind of secret society which is why there are so few members, which makes it really exciting.
"Nearly there," Adam tells me in a cool manner as we walk past Tim Curry riding a camel.
Finally, the guy takes me down a narrow staircase and into a candlelit chamber. I wonder what kind of school this is supposed to be.
"Welcome," says a mysterious voice. "To Astrology Club."
The voice isn't really mysterious because I know it came from Lily, who was also in my astronomy class.
"...really? You brought me here for Astrology Club? I thought you told Miss Terry it wasn't real."
Lily scowls. "She was onto us. No one can know what we're doing down here. If anyone finds out, they'll shut us down. Then there'll be no one left to stop... her."
"Oh, alright."
Now my eyes have adjusted, I notice that there are literally only four other members. So what makes me so special to be invited?
"This is your destiny," says another female voice.
Donna?
"Evil forces are at work in this institution," Donna says solemnly. "One evil, cursèd witch is destined to conquer all and bring forth a new age of darkness. It's written in the stars."
Lily nods. "A million miles away."
I consider this. "A message to the mains?"
Donna looks at me in disgust. "What the hell are you talking about? Listen, girl. I didn't want you here but we have no other choice. There's a prophecy... also written in the stars. That's kind of our thing. A new mage is destined to come head to head with the villainous witch. That mage is you. You're our only hope of saving the world, Sunita."
They must be talking about Mrs Nightcast. So, it's no coincidence that I'm in her English class. Didn't Mettaton say something about fate earlier? So it's true after all...
Adam chimes in. "We know you can do it, Sunita.... the thing is, we don't know how. She doesn't know we know about her powers, so that's cool, but she's so powerful, we don't know how to stop her. All we know is that she wants to plunge the world into everlasting night, and the only thing stopping her is needing the soul of another witch."
"That's right," confirms Lily. "If she gets ahold of your soul, she'll use your combined power to destroy the sun forever. So, uh, don't die, okay?"
"By the way, I'm Jason," says the last club member. I've forgotten his name already.
This is a lot of responsibility for the new girl to handle. "Okay, but can this wait until tomorrow? The next class should be starting in, like, four minutes."
They agree and we walk back up the stairs and into the hallway. Then, as I walk alone to Theatre Studies, I reflect on what just happened. Donna clearly hates me, but... she also needs me, and I'm not one to let her down. I feel like I've matured a lot since the start of the story, which was about five hours ago. Hey, reader, do you think Zac knows about Astrology Club? Eh, I didn't hear what you said just then.
I think it's just the five of us dedicated to saving the world, and no one else knows. They're not doing it for fame and glory. Maybe Donna isn't so bad after all...
