In an hour, I will be dead.
The power drain will be complete.
Mrs Nightcast will have won.
I will be left, no, the world will be left in the darkness to die.
But what if we hold onto hope?
What if we dare to dream?
~
"Come on, quickly!" says Donna as she gestures for everyone to get in the house. "We're so close now."
Once everyone has made it inside, they gather in Mrs Nightcast's kitchen so Lily can recap everyone on the plan. "Basically, we're not going to split up. Whenever they split up in horror movies, everyone is either seriously maimed, physically or emotionally, or dies. We have to be as quick as possible to minimise the chance of Mrs Nightcast catching us before we rescue Sunita. Let's move out!"
They begin to search the house together. Donna leads the way, being the born leader she is, and Zac follows close behind, just in front of the others. Reece has wandered off and gotten himself lost in the house, but he wasn't supposed to be a main character anyway.
Suddenly, I sense noises outside the door. "I think maybe she's in here!" I hear a voice say. Zac?
Zac charges down the door and for the first time in weeks, I can see again. It was so dark, so lonely, so cold in here. But now my heart is warmed with light and hope, and stuff.
"You found me!" I exclaim. "You guys are the best."
Donna, Lily, Adam, Trixabelle and Garlic Girl all walk into the room excitedly, soon after Zac.
"It was only a matter of time," says Adam. "Donna was very persistent."
"Well, not too persistent," Donna adds, having an image to preserve. "You know, I was busy with more important things than saving your miserable life, Sunita. Like, being incredibly popular."
"Well, thank you all the same," I say. "It's great to be properly narrating the story again."
"Your heart cried out like a bell in the night," says Trixabelle. "It guided the way. Hear me for I have spoken."
Some guy wanders in. "Who are you?" I ask him.
"I'm Reecey-poo," says Reecey-poo. He looks offended.
"Oh, sorry I didn't know your name and all, but come on. I only attended school for one and a half days. You can't expect me to know everyone." Maybe I would have known had I been allowed to narrate the story a few chapters ago. Oh well.
"We have to get you out of here," Lily tells me, "before we get caught. I think once you leave the house, the curse will be broken and your powers will be restored."
"Great. Hey, Garlic Girl, can you untie me from this chair?"
Garlic Girl approaches me, rolling her eyes repeatedly. She must be dizzy. "I have a name, you know," she says. "It's-"
"Not. Another. Step."
Everyone freezes as Mrs Nightcast's voice echoes through the room.
