Chapter Fourteen: Who will fix me now?

He woke up and showered as usual and started to get changed before noticing all the blood spread over his sheets.

"Sh*t," he mumbled, reaching for a new sheet before his door flew open.

"Mum!" Calum shouted, holding the towel tighter around his body.

"Sorry, Calum I... is that blood on your sheets?"

"Uh, yeah I had a blood nose last night."

It was probably the stupidest excuse someone could come up with, but his mum believed it.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I-I didn't want to wake you up," he said quietly, not wanting to say the real reason.

"Oh, I wouldn't have minded. Your father would, seeing how much sleep he needs." She laughed.

"Why is it all over the place, though?"

That caught him off guard. He struggled to find a good enough response that his mum would believe him again.

"I didn't - I didn't feel it at first and so I sat up and then I felt it dripping and I went to the toilet."

It sounded believable enough to him. It didn't to his mother though.

"Please don't tell me you're cutting again," she whispered.

"Mum-"

Before he could speak though, she pulled his arm away that wasn't holding the towel and looked at it, letting out a loud sob.

"I thought you had stopped," she sobbed, falling to her knees.

"No, Mum I did stop I just got cut by the pizza box."

She looked up at him and frowned. "What pizza box?"

"Oh..." Calum laughed nervously. "I bought a pizza last night 'cause I was hungry."

"Who's money did you use?"

"The one on the top of the fridge."

"How much was it?"

"Well, it was $5 but she was really skinny so I told her to keep the change."

"You told her to keep $15?"

"Yeah."

His mum sighed. "At least you've stopped cutting."

If only she knew he was lying.
