Chapter Thirty-Nine: Save me from myself

"Welcome to your new world Bella."

Her eyes squinted at the brown thing in front of her. It showed a bright white smile and booped her nose.

"Beautiful."

And she shut her eyes.

"Come to me."

Her feet wobbled as she stood, slowly placing one foot in front of the other.

"You're doing it."

A small "eeyah" gurgled from her throat.

"Almost there!" Her mother grinned at her.

She collapsed in her mother's lap and pressed a slobbery kiss to her cheek.

"I'm so proud of you," her mother whispered.

"Smile!"

Bella bared her teeth in a cheeky grin, displaying her two missing teeth. The air was warm, as it always was and her mother grinned at her as she took a picture.

She looked down at it and laughed quietly, wiping a stray tear from her eye.

"Why are you crying Mummy?"

"My beautiful little girl is all grown up."

She walked over to her mother and embraced her as best as she could, wrapping her short arms around he mother's waist.

"I'll always be your little girl."

It hurts. That's all she could think as she plunged her fingers down further down her throat. She finally reached her gag reflex and removed her hand, leaning over the toilet and throwing up.

It felt disgusting, all her lunch and dinner coming back up her throat and splashing into the water.

At least she'll be pretty now.

Her first boyfriend hadn't exactly been a boyfriend, as she had found out that he had been dared to ask her out.

She couldn't do anything against him, not with her weight, so she left it and instead went home early, shutting her door quietly and ignoring her younger siblings as she slid down to the floor and curled up into a ball, crying silently.

She hadn't known that Leo was there, though, and jumped when a small hand was placed on her shoulder. "Why are you crying?"

She had sniffled and wiped her eyes, not wanting Leo to be caught up in her teenage drama. "Nothing. It's nothing, Leo."

"But you're crying. I don't like seeing you cry, Bella."

She pulled Leo onto her lap, cuddling him close. "I love you Leo."

"I love you too," the young boy replied before he fell asleep.

Bella supposed the boy was attractive, not that he would be attracted to her.

He had dark hair and pale skin, hazel eyes and a tall height.

Her friend Mali kept pushing her shoulder lightly as if telling her "get some!" Then she actually did, pushing her shoulder a bit too hard and making her stumble into the stranger.

"Oh, I'm sorry. It was my friend..." Bella went to point behind her only to see Mali had disappeared into thin air, it seemed.

The man looked her up and down before looking her right in the eyes. She resisted the urge to squeak - his eyes were much more more intense than she thought.

"Purge?"

"W-What?"

"Do you purge?"

"Why would I purge?"

"Let's be honest. Look at you. You have no meat on you, your arms and legs are basically bones, your chest is flat, your cheeks are sunken in - as are your eyes - face it. I know you purge."

Bella didn't know what to say.

So she ran away, like she always did.

Though her damage wasn't as bad as Calum's - having a pole through your leg was pretty extreme - she was still at risk of dying from her injuries.

She was laid on a hospital bed, the room reeking of chemicals and death. The machine next to her beeped steadily, following the pace of her heart.

Her family sat beside her, Leo crying while Rico held Bella's cold hand, Maria sitting next to their silent mother while Ariana held the youngest.

They couldn't afford to lose another member of their family; not when their aunt Arzaylea had just passed away from lung cancer. Bella told her to stop smoking, but she didn't listen.

"Bella, if you... go, we'll still love you, no matter what." Her mother finally spoke up, one I her hand's in each of her younger daughter's.

"But if you do [got7 wyd] decide to go, just remember that everything you did was for a reason."

Bella's eyes fell shut and she smiled softly. She examined her family members, silently. Leo's sobs had gone into small sniffles.

"I'll still love you all, even when I'm not here. You need to be strong without me. I love you all, mama, Rico, Maria, Ariana, Leo. Stay strong."

Then she closed her eyes, and the line went flat. All the pressure from her chest disappeared and she let out a final breath before she stopped breathing at all.
