After Michael left, Bella asked if she could come inside. Calum was tempted to say no, but he didn't want to be rude.

Bella stood awkwardly in the doorway until Mali came, embracing her and asking how she's been and asking how her mum's baby is.

Her answer for both questions: "Fine, I guess."

Mali frowned at that, what with Bella being usually chatty and even Calum knew that. She was acting weird and had been weird ever since Michael had left.

Maybe she was getting feelings for his friend again?

Calum didn't know and was confused. He knew this was possessive and that they weren't exactly dating but he was jealous.

His sisters' friend would usually be talking to him. She was doing the complete opposite of that. Ignoring him.

He felt like a backup person. He felt like he had been thrown away. He felt like he had been tossed to the side. He felt betrayed. He felt used.

He couldn't blame Michael, though. With bright green eyes, pale skin, red lips and hair that was always changing colour, he was by far the best-looking out of the four boys.

Worthless. Useless. Waste of space. Stupid. Nobody. Freak. Weirdo. Loser. Why are you still here? I thought you would've killed yourself by now.

It was those words that lead to cutting. Those words had lead Calum to think suicidal thoughts. Those words made Calum the person he was right now.

He sighed and raked a hand through his messy hair, ruffling it up. He ran his tongue over his teeth and gums as he thought about nothing.

"-broke up after that," Bella said, catching Calum's attention. He looked up at her, eyebrows furrowed.

"What?"

"I was talking about me and Mikey. Why we broke up and that. You weren't listening."

I most definitely was not, Calum thought, laughing quietly.

"But yeah. It didn't really work out because after a few months I just wasn't... feeling it anymore."

"Define," Mali said, sipping her can of Coke before placing it back down on the small coffee table.

"I didn't have the same feelings for him as when we first started dating... I-I didn't feel the spark anymore."

And for some reason, Calum wanted to ignite that spark that she was talking about. He wanted to make her happy, something he hadn't been in a long time.

So before she left, Calum asked if he could speak to her privately.

"Um, I know you should be getting home now, but I just want you to know that... I like you, okay? Like, a lot. So much it isn't even funny. And when you were talking about that 'spark' with Michael, I wanted to make you feel it so can I ki-"

He gasped softly as he was cut off by a soft pair of lips against his own. It probably meant nothing to her, but to Calum, it meant the world.
