Jason: "Emily, what are we doing here?"
Stephen: "Good question, I can't be late to first period."
Sage: "Why did you bring us here so early in the morning? I could be home sleeping right now."
[Emily throws her purse on the desk]
-"Kristal was murdered last night."
Stephen: "What?"
Jason: "No."
Sage: "She... but I talked to her last night."
[Sage breaks into tears]
"Please be lying! Anybody but Kristal, I promised her I'd keep her safe."
Mike: "What happened?"
Emily: "The killer broke into her house and killed her and her mother. They found Mrs. Strickling in the living room with a kitchen knife lodged into her skull. The cops said Kristal had died from asphyxiation, that bastard strangled her. I think Kristal had planned to off herself still because they had found some sort of drug in her system."
[Angela walks in]
Stephen: "Angela, what are you doing here?"
Emily: "I invited her here and it's time to get to what I brought you guys here for."
Emily went through her purse and took out several items: a thirty-seven magnum that she had stolen from her father's closet, a bottle of pepper spray, a hunting knife, brass knuckles, a taser, and a pocket knife. She distributed each weapon according to characteristic. She gave Jason the thirty-seven magnum, the hunting knife went to Stephen, the brass knuckles went to Angela, while the pocket knife went to Sage, Mike was given the mace, and Emily kept the taser for herself. She made it clear that no longer would they be victims.
Emily: "From now on we fight. If the killer crosses you, you either run or fight! I'd prefer the latter."
Stephen: "And the knives, guns, and mace?"
Emily: "That my boy is what we call the 'just in case' factor."
