So exam block had ended, and somehow, in between the holidays ending, me juggling my re-kindled relationship with Nate, talking to Liam, showing Andre around AND studying, I managed to scrape together a pretty decent formal outfit - Hayley too. We were just out scoping out some shoes to go with our dresses. As we walked into the third shoe store in the shopping centre, I asked Hayley somewhat excitedly “So how’s Noah holding up about coming out for formal? Is he excited?”
She blushed upon the mention of his name. “Yeah he is pretty excited I just…” she sighed “Aly, what if something happens and he somehow can’t make it? What then? All of this preparation will have been for nothing!”
While we sat and waited for our sizes to be brought out, I said to her “Hayley, look, relax okay? He will make it, and it’ll be a great night, you’ll see. I know it will. And it won’t be for nothing either way.” I was however cut short because the lady had come back with our sizes and we resumed carefree shoe shopping, as it should be.

I giggled as Nate trailed kisses down my neck, his touch warm. He then brought his mouth back up to mine, kissing it lightly a few times before we pulled apart, looking at each other for a few moments while I absentmindedly played with the ends of his hair as he drew circles on my lower back. We were sitting comfortably on the lounge in the bungalow out the back. I leaned into him, feeling the afternoon sun on both of us, before mumbling “I have missed this, so much.”
“Me too Al, me too.”
Suddenly I was struck with a question. “Hey, I gotta question - and I know its really probably stupid to ask now because this whole time we’ve either been… occupied or discussing things completely different but, remember when you asked me out? And someone said that I’d eventually find out how the hell it all worked out?”
He thought about it for a moment before responding. “Yes? Wait - I presume this is you asking me to tell you hm?” He laughed softly, obviously reminiscing.
“Um if you’d like…” I answered timidly, a large part of me hoping I’d finally find out how it all came to be.
He started to launch into how the idea came about, mentioning that he took every moment he could get alone with Liam and/or Hayley to discuss how it was to be carried out, and on the day all her dodgy secretive calls were to him, letting him know of our whereabouts and how long until we were going to move on, trying to determine the right location to complete what it is he had planned.
Through the whole explanation I sat there, taking it all in and once he had finished, he sighed, a half smile playing on his lips. “Happy now?”
I smiled up at him. “Yes I am, and it was a lovely story… you’re very thoughtful you know that?”
“Why yes I may have been told once or twice before.” he held his head high, quite obviously proud of himself.
I slapped his chest before adding “You’re a dork.”
He smirked down at me, his only response was his lips to mine.
I turned to switch on the TV, flicking through the channels before settling on a random movie that was on. We enjoyed that for about 20 minutes before Nate spoke in my ear. “So I gotta make sure… I am taking you to formal, right?” he paused before adding “I mean you’re stuck with me now not like I was giving you a choice but whatever…” he laughed breathily, causing me to smile at the tickle it sent down my spine.
I pretended to think about it for a moment before sighing. “I guess you can take me, I mean I’m gonna have to tell the line up of guys that want to take me that the decision has been made for me…”
