This week felt like it was never going to end! Once Friday afternoon finally arrived and I'd walked out of the History exam, I immediately sought out someone I knew, when out of no where I felt someone wrap their arms around my waist. I smiled and turned around to face him, our noses touching. “Hey you” I murmured against Nate’s lips.
He smiled and murmured back a “Hey there” before pressing his lips to mine in a small kiss. I pulled apart because I was conscious of the teachers every where and they weren't exactly fans of PDA. He pouted and I laughed. “Oh stop it you big baby we’re not official, therefore no kisses for you.” I stuck my tongue out at him before the bell rang to go to afternoon homeroom. “Oh yay weekend!” I chuckled and pecked his lips before pulling out of his arms. “See you soon then?”
He nodded. “Yeah I’ll see you Saturday with Liam and Hayley”. I smiled and started to walk away before hearing his voice over the crowd. “No wait Aly! Wait up!” I stopped as he reached me, putting a hand on my arm. “Do you wanna come over this afternoon? I’ll invite Hay and Liam as well if you want.”
Smiling, I said “Yeah sounds good, lemmie just stop off at home first then I’ll be right over.”
He smiled and started to walk towards his locker. “Awesome, see you soon!”
***********
I turned up to Nate’s just after I got home, knocking on the front door, waiting for an answer. It was his Mum who opened the door. She smiled warmly. “You must be Aly. Nate said you’d be over. Come on in, he’s just in his room.”
I smiled and walked through the front door. “Awesome, thank you Mrs. Stevenson.”
“Oh, please, call me Kate.”
I chuckled and said “Okay cool, well thank you then Kate.”
She smiled and closed the door behind her as I made my way down the hallway towards his room. I walked in and saw him laying on his bed, half asleep but upon hearing me enter he opened his eyes, and half smiled at me groggily. “Hey” he said, his voice husky.
I giggled. “Hey. You a little tired?”
“Pfft, no, never!”
I laughed. “Oh of course not. So, what do you wanna do?”
He got up and walked over to me, taking one of my hands, entwining our fingers and half smiling. “Follow me.” was all he said before he lead us out to his backyard and to a shed looking structure at the back of the property. “I don’t think I’ve ever showed you the bungalow?” He said in a questioning tone.
I shook my head. “Nope I don’t believe you have. Enlighten me, Mr.Stevenson.” I said, chuckling as he opened the double doors that led into the cosiest space I had ever seen, apart from the lake house.
It had faded yellow walls, with a fuzzy white rug covering the worn floor boards. There were about three lounges with pastel printed blankets and pillows thrown over them, along with some beanbags and a coffee table in the middle of it all. They had a TV in the far left hand corner complete with a PS3 and X - Box, games and movies stacked on the side. There was a window next to the TV with a plain white curtain over it. It looked so homely, like it was lived in. I looked up at Nate and smiled. “This is such a nice place. Have you always had it?”
He nodded. “Yep” he said, popping the p. “I just don’t really think to bring anyone here really… I love it, as soon as we moved in me and Sam made it our own.”
I smiled, walking over to the stack of movies and taking out Finding Nemo. “Oh my God. You have Finding Nemo in your DVD collection?!” I said excitedly. He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly and shrugged. “Umm… well… about that… Sam and I haven’t really had the chance to look through the collection yet so we haven’t had the chance to organize them all and you know I know its probably really emasculating or whatever but… yeah…”
I laughed at his reaction. “No no, this is the best movie, like, ever. We can watch it when… wait… are Liam and Hay coming?”
He shook his head. “I asked them both but Liam is going to his Uncle’s for dinner and Hayley is shopping with her Mum so its just us. I hope you don’t mind” he said, a grin making its way across his face.
I giggled “Nope, I think we’ll be right. So yep we’re gonna watch the best movie ever made now. Sit down. No choice."
He shot me a half smile and put his hands up in a surrender. “Okay okay I’ll sit down, please don’t hurt me!” I rolled my eyes and turned to put it in the PS3, setting it up, handing the controller to Nate and plopping down next to him, eager to watch this movie.
Nate’s POV:
I swear she’s the cutest thing ever. She finds Finding Nemo in my DVD collection and asks to watch it. Like seriously she’s the most perfect unofficial girlfriend a guy could ask for! Speaking of which I was thinking of making it official this afternoon but the question is how…
Should I go all out and wait, buy flowers and go over the top? Or would that be too much - I don’t think that’s really me but I reckon she’d really like it.
Or I could just do it this afternoon, give her the present I got her, even though its only something small and just ask? Who knows with girls! So freaking confusing! You go all out - they complain it's too much. You don’t go all out - they go on about how simple minded and stupid you are, not putting any effort into things.
As the movie started she curled into me and sighed contently. I wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her impossibly closer and I felt her smile contently against my chest, while I remained somewhat preoccupied.
Aly’s POV
I curled into him and smiled as the movie started. He smelt so amazing! And this movie, and him, and this bungalow - it was just… perfect. So me so, us. Too bad it isn’t an actual date. I sighed and wrapped an arm around his waist, as I did so I felt my eyes get heavy with sleep. When was I this tired? I had a feeling we might be napping instead of watching the movie so I grabbed my phone and text Mum.

Hey mumma, just letting you know I might be late home because me and Nate are hanging. Dont worry if it gets close to dinner time I’ll either come home or Kate will insist on feeding me
I’ll give you updates :) xx
I snuggled into Nate and felt his grip on me tighten slightly as I felt my eyelids drop over my eyes, pulling me under a dark blanket of sleep.
*******
Who knows how long I was asleep for - all I know is that I was woken by Nate stirring underneath me. I cracked open an eye to see his face. He looked half asleep too and smiled when he caught me looking at him. I blushed slightly and looked down, playing with the ends of my hair. His hand pushed back some of the hair that was in my face behind my ear as he sleepily said “Have a good sleep, hmm?”
I smiled and shrugged. “Pretty good. Looks like you got some good winks in too.” I chuckled.
He nodded. “Wait so how did we end up like, well, this?” I gestured to me and him, him being underneath me with his arms around me and my head on his chest.
He shrugged and half smiled. “Well when you fell asleep I shifted to make you more comfortable.”
I smiled and nodded. “Suits me fine.”
Nate’s POV:
The rest of the afternoon we sat and bumbed around, being the stupid teens we were deep down. It was fun, just to have me and her together, doing nothing but I knew that it really wasn’t the right time or vibe to ask her out so, I decided I would do it during Friday or Saturday, before the party. I knew she was going to be at Hayley’s getting ready and having a ‘girls day’ or whatever. I also knew that a party sucks as a kinda first date thing but its not really gonna be a ‘first date’ as such, I’m gonna take her out properly, do the right thing. And it’ll be perfect.
I smiled to myself at the thought.
