I spent my whole Thursday and Friday nights packing for the next week and a half ahead. On Saturday, when Mum finally reached the drop off zone at LAX, she hesitated before unlocking the doors. We both got out of the car, unlocking the boot and started to get my suitcase out, trying to make the process as quick as possible. After all, Mum wasn’t even supposed to be out of the car in the first place.

Bringing me into a crushing hug, she smiled and said to me “Okay Aly, honey, have a good, safe flight and call or text me when you get to Hayley’s Aunt’s place okay? I need to have some peace of mind.”

I smiled at her and gave her another hug, nodding. “Of course I will Mum. Thanks again for letting me go, it means so much to me knowing you trust me like this!” I squealed “I’m so excited!” I said, grinning widely.

Glancing at her watch and realizing how long we must have been taking, she nodded and said “Yeah, well, we have taken too much time already. Have a safe trip and tell Hayley’s Aunt thank you! I’ll see you here in a week and a half, ready to pick you up okay honey?”

I smiled and nodded, grabbing my luggage and handbag and started to walk away. But before I got very far, I turned around and yelled out “Hey Mum!” she turned and looked over at me. “Love you!”.

She laughed and waved. “Love you too Al! Now go before you miss your flight!”

I nodded, making my way inside.

I made my way around the airport, it was so big and busy I had no chance of finding Hayley in this crowd! I took out my phone and was about to text her, but looks like she beat me to it. My phone vibrated signaling the arrival of a new message.

Text Message: Hayley Moore

Hey chicka! Where you at? x

I sent her one back, and hopefully would find her soon.

Text Message: Aly Novina

Hey I’m in LAX like right now, where abouts are you? x

Text Message: Hayley Moore

Oh good! Liam and nate are on their way now. And I’m in the domestic departures area… its heaps close to the food court!

As I started to make my way over to the food court area, I texted her back.

Text Message: Aly Novina

Okay I'll see how I go. If I get lost I’ll just call you haha(: x

A few minutes later, I found myself at the domestic departures lounge. Hayley turned around just as I walked in. Throwing her arms up, she smiled. “Aly! Hey!” we both squealed and I ran over to her, throwing my arms around her and trying to yell as quiet as possible “I’m so excited!”.

She laughed and nodded, pulling away. “Me too! The guys aren’t here yet but here is your ticket…” she handed it to me and continued speaking “And I was thinking we could check in our bags and just chill here until they arrive?”

I nodded and smiled. I was pretty happy doing whatever, as long as I got to this lake house by lunch time, as promised. “I’ll text them to go straight and check their bags in as soon as they get there. The flight leaves in like 45 minutes anyways so they are gonna be here soon.”

I nodded again and said “Sounds good.”

While Hayley and I were chilling in the departures lounge, I felt someone hug me from behind and lift me clean off my feet, spinning me around and laughing as I squealed. I knew who it was the moment they lifted me, his familiar warmth spreading through me the moment he touched me.
