I'm putting this here so everybody reads it. Pls don't skip!
This book will contain very graphic descriptions. Maybe not this chapter in particular but some chapters WILL be very.... disgusting? Idk what to call it. So if you're sensitive to all that, read at your own risk.
~~~~"Emi, do you know what a circus is?" my 'Mama' grinned at me. Her golden braces reflecting the light from the sun. We were outside, in some sort of huge yard. It was filled with many things like ropes, chains, knives here and there, wooden posts and other stuff. It gave me the creeps.
"Yeah. It's the place you go to have fun and watch funny people do tricks!" I answered.
"Good. Now, for your first lesson, how would you like to become a clown?" she asked.
"A clown? But I don't know any tricks..."
"You'll learn soon enough," she smirked.
She took my hand and dragged me to where two wooden posts stood. She got a rope and tied each end to one.
"You have to walk from here to there. Oh and if you fall, make sure to land on your feet," she said while sliding a pannel of spikes under the rope.
My eyes widened. I went to open my mouth but before I could talk she slapped some duck tape on top of it.
"There, all done. You may begin now," she said pushing me towards a post. On the side of it was ladder. I started to climb until I got to the top.
Once I got there I looked down at her. She gave me a thumbs up. I looked at the rope in front of me.
All I need to do is walk this tightrope. I'll be okay...
I took a shaky breath and gently set my foot on the beginning of the rope. I lifted my other one, but immediately lost my balance and I found myself falling.
I crashed into something sharp. I felt like a million needles stabbing me all at once. Because that's exactly what was happening. The tape in my mouth muffled my screams and sobs.
I felt wetness all around me, and that's when I noticed I was bleeding. My body wasn't responding, I tried to move but I couldn't.
Suddenly I found myself in the woman's arms.
"When you don't get it right, you try again," She growled and I nodded. Tears streamed down my face as she threw me against the hard post.
I tried...again, and again, and again. I only managed to walk a few feet away from the post before falling again, and crashing into the spikes again.
I barely felt my body now. My legs were giving in, and my eyesight was blurry. I was close to breaking and I knew it.
I set my foot on the rope, then the other one in front. I took a deep breath as I repeated the process. I tried to be as still as possible.
I let out a breath of relief as I reached the half part of the rope. The happiness was short lived, though. Immediately I was falling again. This time, It was different. I couldn't scream, I felt my lungs giving out on me. My body shook, my chest started falling up and down rapidly, my involuntary movements made the spikes stick more.
I was convulsing.
"What a shame, you almost made it," the woman said, ripping the tape off my mouth. Immediately I felt a substance come out. It tasted like blood and saliva.
The woman let my convulsing stop, after a few minutes she walked to me and then she flung me over her shoulder, walking back inside.
"You've been very bad. Today you earned zero good girl points," she shook her head in disappointment.
She threw me inside the cold cell before walking in herself. She ripped my bloody clothes off and turned around, leaving the cell.
I breathed a sigh of relief and let my body relax. I felt the cold floor against my naked body, but my clothes were completely destroyed and wouldn't provide much warmth.
"Emi? Are you awake?" I heard a familiar voice. I didn't have the strength to stand up so I remained where I was.
"Yeah," I croaked, my voice sounding labored.
"How many good girl points did you get?"
"None," I answered.
"Oh, that's not good. But she'll take it easy on you because it was your first time," he answered.
"R-Rei, it hurts," I whispered loud enough for him to hear.
"Don't worry, soon enough you'll get used to it," his voice rang through my ears.
Get used to it?
I remained quiet as I heard loud footsteps coming. My gate opened once again, the woman stepped inside with a bucket and a rag.
"Let's clean you up now," she said. I managed to prop myself up on my elbows and peek inside the bucket. I sighed in relief as I saw the transparent liquid.
The woman dipped the rag in the bucket, then put it on my leg. I screamed on pain, trying to shake the rag off.
It wasn't water, it was alcohol.
"Stay still, don't make me use the knife," she growled and I froze.
My screams filled the cell. Tears streamed down my blood stained cheeks. I felt the burning sensation travel up my thighs, on my private areas, and up my stomach. It spread up my chest, arms and neck at an agonizingly slow pace. Finally she stopped. My rapid breathing was the only thing heard in the small cell.
"All done!" she said before pouring the rest of the bucket on me. I screamed and cried. My mom, real mom, wasn't like this. She was sweet and didn't like when I cried. This woman just seemed to smile at my crying.
"Next time you'll walk the tightrope without falling, right?" she asked. I nodded quickly.
"That's a good girl," she patted my head before leaving.
I still cried. My whole body hurt when I tried to move it, but I shakely dragged myself to the farthest corner of the cell. I hugged my knees to my chest and prayed that mom and dad would come get me.
"Emi?" I ignored his voice. Hopefully this was all just a big nightmare and I would wake up in my bed with mom whispering soothing words.
"Emi?" I tried pinching myself. It didn't hurt. But I wasn't sure if it was because I was dreaming or if it was because I couldn't be in more pain than I actually was.
"Emi?" I needed a way, some way to know this was just a terrible dream. I needed to be with my parents.
"Emi, please stop crying" I heard him whisper. I hadn't noticed my loud sobs until now.
"You'll get used to it," He whispered. I shook my head.
"I don't want to get used to it! I want my family!" I hiccuped.
"We're your family now. I know it's hard, but I'm here. That's what big brothers are for," he said.
"R-Rei. I'm cold," I whispered.
"You'll get used to it," He answered.
"I haven't eaten all day..." I said.
"You'll get used to it," he answered.
'You'll get used to it'. That's what he kept saying. I didn't know if I should feel relieved or sad. Because even though he kept saying 'you'll get used to it', what I really needed to hear was 'you'll be okay'.
