Chapter Twelve | Comatose
•Catherine's POV•
Whoa. Where am I? I can't seem to open my eyes. I can hear everything, but I can't move. I feel like I'm on a bed, but it's definitely not feeling like my bed.
This is so weird.
Then I hear a door open, most likely the door of the room I'm in. Who's in here?
"Oh God, it's worse than I thought." I hear someone say. It's most likely an older woman's voice.
Then I hear the door open again. This time, a different voice speaks.
"Is she okay?" I recognize quickly the voice of my mother.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Evans. Your daughter Catherine is in a coma." I hear the older woman say.
It sounds like someone is sniffling and trying to hold back tears. I'm pretty sure it's my mother.
Then it gets really silent, for about 5 minutes or so.
"When will she wake up?" My mother asks.
"We're not sure, Ms. Evans. It could be possibly months from now."
Then she starts to cry really hard, and I've never heard my mom cry, ever.
"Would you like a moment with alone with your daughter?" The older woman asks.
"Yes." My mother says.
Then I hear another door open and close.
"Catherine, honey... I love you."
I love you too, mommy.
"Please wake up honey. It hurts to see you like this."
I'll try, mom.
"Abby misses you. She talks about you every day."
Aww, really? That's sweet. I love her.
"I'm so sorry honey, but I really have to go. I love you. See you tomorrow." My mom sniffles.
Bye. I love you too, see you tomorrow.
I can't even talk to her. Do you know how much that hurts? Not even finding the strength to open your mouth and talk to your mom. It's hard.
Then my mother walks out. Then someone else walks in.
"Poor girl." She sighed. It was the same older woman.
My eyes are still closed, since I can't see to open them or move still. Then I see a weird bright light flash before my eyes.
Was I dead? But once the light faded away, I noticed that I wasn't where I thought I was going.
I was in a forest, and everything seemed to be... twinkling? There were literally sparkles everywhere. It literally looked like something straight out of a fairy tale book I've read.
"Who are you?" I heard a small, quiet voice behind me. I turn around, only to see someone I don't even know.
