Chapter Twenty | To Kill or Not to Kill?

After that slightly weird encounter with Denise in the restroom, I walked very slowly, confused and slightly remorseful.

I felt that way because what if Denise wasn't lying? Maybe she was just being nice?

But I'm pretty sure you don't stalk people to become their friends.

Besides, what about what Raveleen said? I can't trust Denise, she might be one of those human hunters. I'm surprised that if she was, why didn't she attack me or try to kill me when she had the chance?

I was lost in the middle of my thoughts when...

"Hey, where's your hall pass!" A deep voice yelled.

I turned around, and it was Mr. Noorman, the hall monitor.

"Oops, I left it in the restroom. Let me go get it." I managed to barely squeak that sentence out.

"You have 30 seconds. Don't let me see you walk out without a hall pass!" His loud voice boomed across the hall.

I was looking around the bathroom, no clipboard with a hall pass attached to it in sight.

Aw, crap! Maybe Denise took it? I thought.

I looked under a stall, and found it, along with the papers I was supposed to take to the main office.

I ran out of the bathroom, and handed the hall pass to the hall monitor.

"Okay. Come with me to the main office please." His big voice not getting any quieter.

"Wait," I stopped him. "How come I'm getting detention?"

"You signed your name, date, and time on here, but where is your teacher's signature?" He said.

Shoot. I thought.

Then, as if she knew, Raveleen came to the rescue.

"Um, excuse me, Mr. Norman?" Raveleen asked.

"Yes, Raveleen?" It was as his voice suddenly got much calmer.

"Um, Mr. Johnson sent Catherine to the main office to take some forms there. Mr. Johnson needs her back in class, if that's alright with you, of course." Raveleen said.

"Of course she can go back to class." Mr. Noorman said and left.

"Uh, Raveleen?" I asked.

"Yeah?"

"I didn't actually turn the papers into the main office. Can we go really quick?" I asked.

"Sure, I guess." Raveleen shrugged her arms.

"Great."

Raveleen and I walked back into the classroom. I thought that maybe Mr. Johnson would've said something, but he didn't.

I walked back to my desk and continued to work, when Raveleen and I started to talk.

"Why did you take to so long to go to the main office anyways?" Raveleen whispered.
