Chapter Eighteen | Explanations

Last Chapter...

"What? Can you please tell me how it was a threat towards me?" I asked slightly nervously.

"Okay, I'll tell you, but you must be quiet and never tell anyone else, or else you will be in more danger." Raveleen explained.

"Okay, I'm listening." I said quietly.

~•~

"So how bad is this threat, exactly?" I asked.

"It's possible that it could end your life." Raveleen said.

"O-Oh," I shuddered.

"There are these scary monsters that we call Human Hunters. They're pretty dangerous." Raveleen said.

"So, they're really scary?" I asked.

"No Catherine," Raveleen said sarcastically. "They're pink and fuzzy with big googly eyes."

"But anyways," Raveleen continued. "They're big green monsters with sharp yellow teeth and claws. They walk on all fours."

"That sounds almost fictional." I said.

"Come on, Catherine! Be serious! I'm not joking here, you can get seriously hurt!" Raveleen scolded.

"Sorry. I really am taking this seriously." I apologized.

"Good, because if you listen to me, you'll be safe. I wouldn't want you to end up like the last one." Raveleen said.

"Wait, what?! What do you mean, 'the last one?'" I asked.

"There was this little nine year old girl named Ellie. She was cute and sweet. To be honest, we're not sure how she ended up in our world, because she had claimed to lost her memory once she had arrived here. The wrong people knew about her secret. One day she walked out of the house during night time. I heard her screaming and I tried to save her, but it was too late." Raveleen said.

"That's so sad," I said. "Do you miss her?"

"Yes, very much." Raveleen spoke, looking down at the floor.

"Are the monsters hard to spot?" I asked.

"Well, there's this rumor that the monsters can be disguised as fairies, however they want, whenever they want." Raveleen explained.

"Do you know about any monsters that can possibly be hiding around our school?" I asked.

"Do you know Denise?" Raveleen asked.

"Yeah, I bumped into her and we talked for maybe less than a minute before I had to go to my first class." I said.

"Does she happen to know you're human?" Raveleen asked.

"Yes, I actually did mention it in our conversation, why?" I said.

"Catherine, you're kidding, right? Please t-tell me you're joking." Raveleen stuttered.

"Do you see me laughing?" I said.

"Catherine, do you not realize what you may have done?" Raveleen slowly raised her voice.

I shrugged.

"There's a rumor going around school that Denise is one of those monsters! You're such an idiot, why did you tell her?!" Raveleen raised her voice.

"I'm sorry! I didn't know, okay?" I said.

Raveleen cooled down a little bit. "It's okay. You just have to stay away from Denise, okay?"

"Fine." I said.

The Next Morning

I woke up in the morning for school, tired and bored.

I look at the clock, and I see that it's 7:50.

Oh no! I overslept! Only ten minutes until school starts! I practically screamed in my head.

5 minutes later, I'm putting on my shoes and I'm ready to go. I grab my red backpack and I'm literally sprinting out of the house.

I'm running as fast as I can, when I can see the school, I suddenly see Denise and her friends, as if they just appeared before my eyes.

If I hadn't stopped at that exact second, I most likely would've bumped into them. My running slowed down to fast walking, and that slowed down into slow walking.

Very slow walking.

I felt like one of those guys in an action movie running from a building that's about to explode in slow motion. Except I was walking, very slow.

In fact, I walked so slow that I ended up being about 10 minutes late for my first class.

It was worth it, though.

After my first class, I walked out and turned around, to see Denise and her friends conversing. However, Denise didn't seem to be conversing with her friends.

Instead, she was looking straight at me.
