Chapter 31
My stomach was turning just looking up at how high the roller coaster was.
Damien pulled my hand towards the line. I should just tell Damien that I am terrified of height. I mean it's not like he wouldn't understand right?
"Umm." I managed to croak out causing Damien to turned towards me.
"What is it?" A huge smile plastered on his face. It was genuine, at that moment he resembled a child, in well.... A theme park. I couldn't take that away from him.
I knew that one day I would have to face my fears of heights; I just didn't know that today would be the day. I thought I would have time to plan when I would conquer my fear of heights.
"Nothing, this is going to be fun." I plastered a smile on my face, I hoped that he didn't realize it wasn't real.
There were quite a few people in front of us, the suspense was killing me.
I'm being serious here.
My heart was racing; my palms were drenched in sweat. I think I was hyperventilating for goodness sake.
Finally, we reached the front of the line, it was our turn to get on the roller coaster. I walked slowly and hesitantly behind Damien as he sat in one of the carts in the middle.
His smile never faded, I in the other hand felt sick to my stomach.
I slid into the seat next to Damien. My hand was shaking.
"Hey are you ok?" He reached for my hand. "Your hands are clammy, hey look at me." He reached for my chin with his pointing finger, slowly my face turned towards him. "You look kind of green, are you scared?"
Scared? That was an understatement, I was facing death in the eyes.
"Well, I'm kind of horribly terrified of heights, I have never gotten on a roller coaster." I managed to spit out.
Damien chuckled a little under his breath. "Why didn't you tell me, come one let's get off, you don't have to act brake around me." His eyes were soft, and a smile danced on his lips.
I felt foolish, he was right I should have just told him, I knew he wouldn't be disappointed.
I rushed my face towards his, our lips connecting. He had no idea what affect he had on me. I couldn't believe how wrong I was about him; he wasn't everything that Maggie had depicted of him.
Maggie.
I needed to talk to her.
Suddenly movement broke me from my thoughts I opened my eyes. "Damien we are moving."
"Huh?"
"Oh, cheese on a cracker, so this is how my life is going to end." The feeling of throwing up overwhelmed me, I had a knot in the pit of my stomach.
"Hey, hey wait stop the roller coaster." Damien yelled to the usher at the control panel.
"I can't man, it's already off." He did the roller coasters movement with his hands; he reminded me of a pot head with his long blond hair that was slit down the middle.
"Son of a b...." He stopped mid-sentence as he looked down toward me. "It'll be ok just close your eyes and lean on my shoulder, but keep your eyes closed."
If it was only that simple.
You know that sensation that you get when you're not supposed to look but you do anyways because, as you all well may know, curiosity killed the cat.
