I woke up cuddled into Aiden's chest on the couch in the living room. His arm was around me, securing me in place. I sighed and looked at the clock on the cable box. 5:37pm. Rachel should be home soon, I'm sure. I moved Aiden's arm off of me, very softly and made sure not to wake him. I went into the bedroom and check my phone. I had two texts from Mike and one from Chester, one of our band mates.
Mike sent: "Hey! We're in the studio...do you think you could record something on your own and send it?"
The second one he sent about an hour later, asking me if I was okay, since I didn't answer. Chester's text was just him trying to get in touch with me too. I called Mike, and put it on speaker so I could turn on my laptop.
"Hey!" He exclaimed.
"Hey what's up?" I asked, "Sorry I didn't text you back earlier...I fell asleep."
"No problem." He said, "we had a really good idea and it couldn't wait until you got back. I'll send you a PDF with the lyrics and a sound clip of the music."
"Alright," I said. "I've got you."
"Thank you so much." He said. "You're my hero. Have I told you lately that you're my hero? You're my hero. I love you."
I laughed a bit. "Love you too Mikey." I said.
"Okay, so the music is slower, but I was thinking that the lyrics could be in half time." He said.
"Oh...uh...okay." I said, "sounds awkward."
"It's not. Chester did a scream version of it, and it sounded awesome, but we wanted you to sing it." He said.
"Sweet," I said. "Alright, well I'll let you go. Just send that stuff to me through an email and I'll send you my recording back."
"Alright cool. Bye." Mike said.
"Bye," I said, and hung up. There was a fake cough from behind me. I turned around to see Aiden.
"Well look who woke up," I smiled.
"Yeah," he said, sitting on the bed. "You ditched sleeping with me to get up and work."
"No," I said, standing between his legs. He wrapped his arms around my waist. "I got up and checked my phone. My band mates blew up my phone, and now I have to work."
"Oh," he chuckled. I refreshed my email and saw the email from Mike. I kissed Aiden quickly and got to work. I read over the lyrics then listened to the music. I did this over and over again until I had a good idea. I set up the microphone and my head phones and got ready to record.
"I long to be like you,
Lie cold in the ground like you.
There's room inside for two and I'm not grieving for you,
I'm coming for you.
You're not alone,
No matter what they told you, you're not alone.
I'll be right beside you forevermore." I sang. When I was done, Aiden looked at me, with wide eyes.
"What?" I giggled.
"That was awesome," he said.
"Thanks," I said, softly. I listened to it and sent it to Mike.
"Okay, I'm done working. What you wanna do for the rest of the afternoon." I said.
"Well Mom should be getting home soon." He said. "Carl is outside working on his truck."
