"I have a sister."

"What?!" I exclaimed. "You have a sister?!"

"Yea." He said.

"Why didn't you tell me?!"

"I didn't know either." He said blankly.

"Oh." I said. "Give me a moment."

I walked downstairs and called Rachel.

"Hello?" She asked.

"A sister?!"

"Sarah," she sighed.

"No, Rachel. Don't "Sarah" me! Why didn't you ever tell Aiden he has a sister?!"

"I...I put her up for adoption... But she found me yesterday. She just randomly came and knocked on the door, and told me who she was. I cried and cried and I'm still crying. I don't know what to do now. And I didn't know how to tell Aiden." She explained.

"How old is she?" I asked.

"She's 31."

"So she was born before Aiden." I said. "That makes sense. But you never thought to tell him?"

"I didn't want him to go looking for her. I put her up for adoption the day I had her. Carl and I wasn't ready to have a baby yet, but I refused to abort her. She deserved a life...just not with me."

"She didn't deserve a life with her mother Rachel?! Do you realize how bad that sounds?!" I exclaimed. I heard footsteps behind me, and the phone was taken from my hands. Aiden hung up the phone and put it on the table. He grabbed a coke from the fridge and ran his fingers through his hair.

"Why did you do that? I was trying to get her side of the story." I said.

"I don't wanna hear it." Aiden said. "You don't need to be concerned with it. It's not any of your business."

That hit me like a punch to the stomach.

"Excuse me?! None of my business?!" I exclaimed.

"No. It's none of your business or concern." Aiden said.

"It became my business and concern when I came home to you crying in the bed." I said. "This is my family too Aiden."

"No it's not. We're not married. You're just my girlfriend. My family issues do not concern you."

"Just your girlfriend huh?" I asked leaning against the counter. "Get out."

"Excuse me?"

"I said get out."

"I'm not going anywhere. This is my house too." Aiden rolled his eyes.

"I put the down payment on it. It's in my name. It's my house. Get out." I said.

"I'm not leaving." He said.

"Then I am." I said.

"You're not going anywhere, Sarah." He said. "Take your ass in the other room and calm down."

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes and went into the office. I turned on the surround sound system and played the music loudly. I laid on the couch and eventually dozed off.

***Flashback***

To: Sarah
Come meet me at the director's tower...I have a surprise.

To:Aiden
On my way..

I walked outside and towards the band field. Aiden was at the top of the director's tower.

"Babe? What are you doing?" I asked, smiling.

"Come up here." He said.

"Okay if I get up there I might have a panic attack." I said.

"I'll be here to calm you. And I'll help you down. Come up!" He smiled.

I sighed laughing and climbed up the ladder. He had a picnic blanket down and food.

"I have dinner. It's not the best, but it's sure better than what others are eating before the game." He said. I giggled.

"This is sweet, love." I said.

"Anything for my baby girl." He said. I smiled and leaned over and kissed him.

"This wouldn't have anything to do with this being our one year anniversary huh?" I asked.

"Maybe." He chuckled. "You didn't think I forgot did you?"

"No I didn't think you forgot." I rolled my eyes.

"Good." He said. "But this isn't your gift. I have something else."

"Something else?" I asked. He smiled and took out a small box from his pocket.

"Before I open it.. It's not much. But I really hope you'll like it." Aiden said.

"Whatever it is, I'll love it." I promised. He smiled and opened the box. It was a ring, with "I promise" engraved on the top, with a small diamond for the "i" in "promise". I gasped.

"It's so pretty, Aiden." I said. He smiled a little wider and put the ring on my left ring finger. It fit perfectly.

"I uh..I have one to.." He said, and handed me the box. I opened it and smiled. I slide the ring on his left ring finger. The only differences was that his was bigger and that it didn't have a diamond in it.

"I love you, Aiden." I said softly.

"I love you too," he said and kissed me. "Sarah, you bring out the best in me. I could never ask for a better girlfriend. I can't wait to be married to you one day. I don't ever want to lose you."

His words brought tears to my eyes, and a few fell. He wiped them away and kissed me again. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer. He finished off with a kiss to my cheek.

"Let's eat." He chuckled softly. I nodded and ate the food that was home cooked for us. I was surprised that it was still hot, but I didn't wanna ask and ruin his surprise plans. I don't him to reveal his tricks to me just yet.

***End Of Flashback***

I woke up laying on the bed. Aiden was sleeping next to me.

I looked at the clock that said 2am. "Are you serious? Whatever I'm going back to sleep." I thought

I cuddled into Aiden's chest. He wrapped his arms around me in his sleep, causing tears to fall down my cheeks.

What have I done? I wish the way we use to be. Instead of pained arguments we use to do things like sneak out to the band field before football games and just talk and kiss. But now we're adults...and we have a life to build. I just wish he knew how much I loved him...
