We ran up the golden staircase taking two at a time. When we got to the top I gasped in despair!

There were thousands of rooms and we didn't have time to check them all.

"What do we do?" I cried at Lucy in exasperation.

"Be quite for a second. Don't move and don't speak,"

I did what she said and she closed her eyes. This isn’t time for a nap, I thought incredulously.

Then she started glowing. I stared at her in disbelief. What was going on?

Then something even stranger happened. She started floating in mid-air! Then I had to do something. I grabbed her foot and she opened her eyes, she gasped and started to float back down.

"What was that?" I yelled. I was so confused. How come I didn’t have any special powers?

"I’ve no idea, but I do know which room they're in!" she pointed at a door that was more unique then the others. It was made out of gold (of course) but it had a red cross on it. On top of the cross, painted, was a beautiful intricate crown.

"Wait!" I shouted at her. She was just about to barge down the door. "We don't even have weapons!"

Lucy smiled.

"When I was floating in the air, I pinpointed a closet that has so many weapons in it, I couldn't even count. It's over there," she pointed at another door and this one had a sword and a shield on it. Even I could have guessed that was where the weapons were. I was resenting Lucy a little because I was jealous that she had a power and I didn’t, even if it was a little lame. I opened the door and it wasn't a closet. You could’ve called it a giant supermarket except it wasn't clothes, it was weapons.

"How‘re we supposed to choose?" I exclaimed.

"I guess we could just get a shield and a sword. But make sure that they feel right to you. There's no point in getting a really heavy weapon and not being able to use it," she answered walking over to the swords. I marvelled at her, she’d come such a long way since we started this crazy journey and she was a lot more confident and braver. I wandered if I’d changed. Yeah, I probably had but I’ve become a lot angrier.  I walked over to the shields and picked one up. It had a dragon on it and was beautiful. It felt just right in my hands and I gave it a quick spin.

"This one's perfect!" I exclaimed delighted. Lucy had picked up a sword and was practicing quick jabs with it. I picked up a knife and something really weird happened. It got hotter in my hand. Not uncomfortable, just a warm glow. Then it started to glow blue. It glowed in the darkness making my face light up with a faint bluish tinge. It felt so right in my hands, as if it was mine already. I twirled it around and found that I didn't really have to move. The knife knew what it was doing and I was just following. Lucy was staring at me with her jaw dropped.

"How... What? I don't... that was so cool!" she yelled finally. "How did you do that?"

"I didn't do anything! It just feels so right in my hands,"

When Lucy had finished picking her weapons we hurried to the door.

"On the count of three, ok?” She nodded quickly.

“One... Two... Three!" I yelled as we busted down the door.

I stopped and gasped in horror as I stared into dark fiery eyes.
