It was 7:53 and Lynx's stomach was in knots. She felt like she had swallowed a million butterflies. Lynx kept looking over her dress, she was sure that she looked like an actual trash bag, but there was no time to plan a different outfit.

Lynx was wearing all black, and was wandering around looking out the windows on her door like a lost puppy. Suddenly a horrible screeching sounded itself from the doorway. Lynx peered cautiously out the window.

A white car had found itself into the driveway and Lynx could see Lauren stepping out of it.

Shit.

Lauren was dressed in a white tux.

With a matching tie.

Shit.

Lynx didn't know if she should go outside or stare at the unnatural beauty in her driveway.  She finally got the courage to leave her house and walked outside. Lauren gave her a warm smile and opened the door for her.

Lynx smiled and nodded because if she would have said anything she would have made a sound in between a moan and an assortment of dying barn animals.

The inside of the car smelled like Lauren. It was comforting. Lynx watched Lauren walk around the car and get inside.

As soon as Lauren was inside they took off driving. Lynx didn't feel like having an awkward car drive, so she attempted some meaningless chatting.

"I thought that you were taking Jamie to the dance. Did she find anyone else to go with?" Lynx asked her.

"Me and her are on a sort of, break." Lauren answered quietly.

Lynx looked out the window awkwardly.

"Don't feel bad Lynx, it was my decision anyway, and being on break with her means I can take you places." Lauren looked over at Lynx and grabbed her hand.

Lynx could have ran a mile and then played a symphony and she wouldn't have had a more red face. Other than simple flirting and intense blushing on Lynx's part the rest of the car ride held no more awkward moments.

When they arrived at the dance they got a lot of stares. News of Lauren's problems with Jamie had spread like a fire. Seeing Lauren with someone else so soon would be sure to cause some confusion.

Lynx was lead to the dance floor by Lauren, and they joined everyone in the dancing. It seemed like something out of a fairy tale to Lynx.  Lynx's dress flowed about her as they danced.

For a few minutes everything in the world was alright. Lynx was happy and Lauren was happy too. This would be the last time they both would be happy for the next few months.

This event could have ended in a happy way, in which Lauren and Lynx weren't put in any complicated situations.

However at this dance, Jamie was also attending with a few friends. She wasn't dancing with anyone except her friends, because she knew the definition of a break, that being don't get with other people for at least 5 days, and was about to get some food when she saw Lauren and Lynx.

Jamie's first thought was to kill Lauren and tear her apart right then and there, but she didn't really want to cause a scene. It was embarrassing enough to be seen with Lynx, Jamie thought.

After Jamie saw them both leave the dance floor she followed them so she could talk to Lauren about this.

After a final slow song Lynx was lead by Lauren to a corner of the room. Lynx looked at Lauren with shock.

"You aren't planning on getting back together with Jamie are you?" Lynx questioned her.

"I don't know Lynx, I like her, but I don't know if I can stand being around her anymore. All she does is complain about things that mean nothing. I've lost interest in her."

"Then why don't you break up with her?" Lynx asked.

"I don't want to hurt her feelings Lynx." Lauren stared at Lynx. Her eyes burned into Lynx's soul.
"How would I do it? I can't break up with her for no reason, and the simple losing interest reason makes me seem like a douchebag. I might have to though. Every day I spend with her is actual hell."

"Why don't you tell her that you've lost interest and that someone else has caught that interest." Lynx told her. Lauren stared at her and then whispered lowly to her.

"That could work." Lauren barley spoke loud enough to be heard. They were standing there peacefully when suddenly from behind them they heard a loud sob, and as they whipped around they saw Jamie running away. Lauren ran after her and Lynx watched as they both ran off. And yet again, she found herself alone
